wow looks good, nice work. what did you use for motor mounts?

I used trans-dapt universal mounts and just ran them solid to the frame..it's not to bad with them being solid right now but when I cam it I'm prolly gonna run some kind of rubber or poly mount

well went to the track saturday night for some test runs and i made it about 300 feet..went to shift into 3rd and heard a loud explosion. So i got out and didnt see anything leaking then crawled under my truck to see this :(

well since the TH400 sucked anyways because it was only a 3 speed i decided to go with a 4 speed of some sorts then i ran acroos a deal that was too good to pass up.
40k mile 4l60e and a brand new 4000 yank converter

Thats what happens with solid motor mounts and a bushing'd tranny mount. Get some rubber for the engine, or solid mount the tranny and it shouldn't happen again?

i would build the balls on a 700 or run a 80 with a 6.0.

richmond 6 speed?

was it worth putting the engine that far back?

Did you rubber mount the transmission and leave the motor solid or vise versa? If so thats what broke your transmission. You can save that 400...buy a blow proof bellhousing and good as new. Good chance you will kill that 4L60 behind a 6.0 and you will have a few bucks in building one up to handle some power.

dude major props, and inspiring, but its cross breeding. why dont you just build an s-10 haha

4l60e? Ive trashed 2 of those behind 4.3s?

yea im running a 60eall u have to do is take care of them.Keep them cool and they will last forever and the fact that my truck weighs 2800lbs helps too.

also everywhere ive ever looked says solid motor mounts need a rubber tranny mount..if not what will flex if needed?

i wouldnt run a 700 if you built it, gave it to me, and put it in lol. They are junk. and an 80 wont fit

This 60e isnt going in stock..its got aftermarket clutches, vette servo and a very very large tranny cooler, actually prolly 2 of them in a series

A stock shell will die its one of the weakest parts and sorry dude a 4L60E is just an electronic 700R4. Stock clutches or not with the right steels you can play with the height to get an extra clutch in the 3-4 clutch pack. That is a common failure. The servo will help but you are going to need a good shift kit, precision makes a good 4L60 shift improver some of the kits come with the servo. Look at the 1-2 accumulator piston in the case, if plastic replace with a aluminum one they break. I could go on forever but that are all the ones that quickly came to mind.

Yep, that's why I was asking. His list of parts doesn't build a very strong 4L60E.

I had my 4L60E rebuilt a few years ago for $1856. It had a lot of broken parts that needed replaced. It was built to take abuse, and has done so beautifully. The shifts are still quick and firm just as they were a few years ago. The guy that rebuilt it didn't use a shift kit, but did his own modifications to the valve body. So, the 4L60E can be a good transmission with the right parts and someone who knows what they're doing.

I applaud your choice of engine... Transmission though? I wouldn't touch a 4L60E with a ten foot pole, especially for something with as mush potential as an LQ motor... If I had my druthers it'd be a T56 :D If I was building a track car I'd definitely be fitting that 4L80 in there... 99% positive that 6.0L is already over the torque rating of a 4L60 (I believe it's somewhere's around 300-325ft lbs)...
