My Lego model collection so far

Target and Toys R Us have good selections. Toys R Us has the bigger, more technical kits.

There's a Lego store at the Mall of America, up in Minnesota.

This is one of the greatest threads I've ever seen. I especially like the Tow Truck, AWD car, and the Fire Truck.

Makes me really miss my legos, I managed to free hand a few cool things back in the day.

I too used to do a lot of "free hand" work. At one point in time I had built a dually pick-up with a tandem axle trailer. I have been on the look out for anybody with extra stuff they wouldn't mind partin ways with. Need to rebuild my "extras" box!

The toys r us around here don't have squat for sets. Believe it or not a local grocery store has a better selection.

I found a booth in a local flee market that had quite a nice selection, when I make it back over there if they still have it I'm gonna pick up a very hard to find set. A 1962 Volks Wagen beetle! :icon_cheers:

I never got alot of parts to make highly functional things, so mostly display pieces is what I wound up with. Still had some respectable stuff. You sir, are clearly higher in skill than I was. lol

A '62 Beetle? This I must see.

The one kit I love following the instructions for, was a Star Wars 6-wheeled Clone Trooper vehicle (I forget the actual name). I loved the size of the things and building the suspension and everything. I could of made some cool stuff with the parts from it but the best parts from it I kept dismantling from other projects to build the kit vehicle again.

I see you took my advice and posted this here, cool. Looks awesome I have a huge container full of legos but I never really got around to making anything with them I got a nice die cast collection going on thou there's a thread in this section somewhere. Nice builds can't wait to see the V8.:icon_thumby:

Thats awesome in at least 7 distinct ways.

You should try and make a Lego Technic Baja Bug.

Hmmmm maybe take some parts from the green AWD buggy and the beetle set and . . . . . . . :icon_idea:

I wonder if maybe we could work out some trades, I have some die casts that I'm not really into. :dunno:

It would take some change in design, needs a shorter track width with the same/more travel (judgeing by the pictures) to fit the look with the Beetle. Harder part would be getting the SHAPE of the Beetle accurate enough.

i want this one

oh dern it anyways! now I'm gonna have to go buy the beetle set and put it together so I can set them side by side and figure it out! :shok:

Honestly though I really would need to see the finished beetle model to see if it would even be possible. Maybe the tires from the blue buggy might be more to scale now that I think about it. hmmmmmmmmmmm :icon_confused:

I almost bought that exact set last weekend, they also had the seattle space needle, sears tower, and that house. At barnes and noble. Nice sets.

you really wouldn't HAVE to scale it, but having them both side by side at the same scale would look cool on display.
