my junk pile

awese lookin build...im glad to see more people on this site goin the desert racing direction with their rangers

very nice! hopw to see you get yours done soon! Mine is gettin there and hopefully done by may to race. i would go for the old school look. have not seen any recently and have a feelin mine may be the only one for a while thats an old school racer with new school technology lol. what are you doin for rear suspension?

ranger#1 hey man, they are red white and blue, not rainbow!:thefinger:
I admit they are sorta funkyish looking with the stock width beams, but hopefully they will keep the law off my ass from the tires sticking out.

Raceranger, thanks! seems more and more people are starting to open a eye to the desert trucks and the tech. in them and apply it to other forums as well.

------------------------------------------------------
84project ford,Its finally getting there. just stupid stuff has me tied up now.Mostly in the front shock dept.mostly working out bugs with them.
For the rear I have a more autofab, I have a pair of autofab springs and 2link set up.Hoping to get the links on today.Dam santa ana winds and red flag warning's.My luck if I would have struck up the welder and grinder I would have been the ass hat to set the county ablaze! lol
then its just the waiting game on parts to fix my the front shocks.and should be on the fighting road to smog it(or buy a carbon credit;brownbag; )
Then for the time being, till money starts to flow in good a again,(hopefully) proably just build some sort of shock hoops/bedgage to mount some real shocks on the back.have a pair of 14inch SAW's sittting on the shelf.soooo.

I agree, with the old school 1st gen clip.plus it makes it easy to throw in offroad lights as head lights. quick change of the bulp ='s flame throwers, then change back for the street.but thats in the cosmetic dept. so kinda on the back burner.unless I pick up anouther parts truck to part that in decent shape.

I see in your thread you got the link kiler set up..nice! Everything I have seen on that kit, it looks like it worth every penny.Just do some reading up up the shocks that is needed to make it work like its suppose to.Or give geoff a call at giant.

yhe collors are bad ass rwb all the way its just the buldge that looks wird but other than that ur pretty much my insperation not toomany 4x4 single cab longbeds out there that are runnen the dez i think we should have our own secion on ths for prerunner rangers yaaaa

well good to see you know where ya goin with it and what you want. i have had this idea of the ranger im building for three years and can now finally do it lol. Yeah im ver yexcited to get teh leafs on and get it cyclin for the money shots :icon_thumby:. i plan on callin Geoff next week as i need shackle bushings, all the bolts, u-bolts and possibly spring perches then ill pick his brain as to what shock works best for the setup and willl give me all 21"s of travel. I keep hearin he is a super nice guy and willing to help.

I second the prerunner thread! shall we make a poll?? lol

like a radius arm/coil /panhard for the rear?

na its leaf srpings with two bars that run up from the axle to the frame. some people call them traction bars and other names. they are really there to stop any wheel hop and still allow all the travel of the springs

ummm rick if Im not mistaken, is frisco not in the "nor-cal" area of comifornia?:idiot:
Nope no pan hard bar coil set up,leaf springs and 2 bar's pretty much traction bars. But they dont bind up.
like this....but instead of the muli. shocks in time Ill be running a singe 2.5 shock per wheel that I have.

84 ranger, Im trying my best to not have the snowball effect take over.and build just a low end truck thats easy to mantain on the wallet.
At first I had ideals like your's except 4wd.But that was before my first superduty got stolen.Got anouther one and that got stolen too after having it for maybe 6weeks.And the insurance kinda stuck me on that one....
So then I got the ideal of building a 7s and keep it street legit since no more tow rig for th time being.but had some mishaps and here I am now.
Trying like hell to keep is simple and get it out in the dirt sooner than later. But some things cost me alot more than the org. plan was for and set me back in time and what I wanted out of the truck. But slowly thats getting worked out. now if I could only convince people they needed to buy recyled air at a dollar per pound...I could really speed things back up.:tease:

-------------------------------------------------------
In some ways it would be cool to have a desert truck/prerunner section.but I could see it turing in to a fight and bring alot of bullshit to this board in general.take alook over on dramarangers, handfull of helpfull guys, but a large amount of..."thats total bull shit cuase you didnt use chrome molly on that shock gusset" and it turns in to a 30 page name calling shesh.
But if the mods are up to the extra headache of moderating and keeping the drama down from what it will attract......Im all for it.

yeah its hard to stay on track with your original plan. atleast the fire has not burnt out on ya and your still pushin the project along. Everyone keeps askin me why i just dont 4 link the truck and put equal lengh beams on her, i say sure if you wanna buy them lol. Yours will work very well off road. teh way i have always seen it is its not th etravel numbers that matter, its the valving in the shocks, big travel numbers are all cool and all but tehy wont do nothin if they aint valved right. i have seen 13"s of front wheel travel beat 20"s of front wheel travel all because the valving was spot on in the 13"s.

I agree on the the bullshit that may occure bu tim on a few other desert sites that have no where near that drama. Desertrides is one of them, always helpful there but every forum has their drama, thats why we have awesome moderators to keep the drama out fo people that just need simple advise. Its nice when their aint that drama because that allows for new concepts to come out that people have thought of and are not shot down. Like there is a guy on Desertrides that built his whole class 7 Taco using mathmatical equations and physics to keep things light and strong, there was a little drama sayin you need more bracing but it has held up really well so far with a few problems because you cant calc every force. i guess the point is it brought new info that works and is light for racing because of no drama.

i feel bad for jackin this guys thread sorry lets move it all to the general fourm department

desertrides is a good board, very little bullshit over there. And alot of good info. The drama board has alot of good info as well. And some of it is down right funny. But alot of those people are stuck on single use only and that were I see the "bullshit" to happen. But there is also a good ahndfull of truly helpfull people over there.
I like the builds that the guys think "outside" the box. makes it intersesting.

This is a really bad week to bring up "burnt out" this is the week that san diego always seems go to up in flames on.

I'll buy you a link set up and qual lenth kit, you just have to sale 10,000 lbs of my recycled air:D But I know what you saying. If you let the snowball effect happen you ethier end up with a sloppy truck wiht lots of "cool" parts, or sale it for pennys on the dollar 3 years later 3/4's finished.Unless you just got major bucks.

---------------------------------------

Ranger1 no problem guy. Feel free to jack this thread all you want.More people to read it the better.

next week coming, what's in side a resvior shock.SAW(sway a way race runners) and FOA's.
