My First Truck

i guess you guys didin't notice, but the back plate that the spare tire attatches to served as the ultimate reinforcement i bolted and welded the front to the old frame and the rear portion of the plate is rivited to the new piece, once i did that, the frame was solid as a rock, even held the weight of the bumper the welds on the frame were just precautionary and i welded on both sides of the frame rail with high heat penetration.

i stand by my previous statement. just plate the frame, it is the safe thing to do. those welds will crack and will fail, maybe not tomorrow or next week, but they will fail.

You should plate the frame, there will be a lot of stress on that joint from the rear leaf spring constantly flexing it.

Please plate the frame, man. Trust us.

^ what everyone else said. Plate it, for what little work it will be now, the peace of mind and strength is more than worth it.

I agree with everyone else.

The preferred method of splicing that frame in would have been to cut your old frame like this < and have the new frame cut to fit into it so it would look like this <<.

Awesome looking truck tho, that color really does look good on it!

got a step side bed from the junk yard thought it would look cool with the wide mud tires im gonna put on it
