I thought i would give a short testimony about my remote TFI install
When i bought this 88 B2 I knew that eventually i wanted to remote mount the TFI module from the diz. I own a 94 E-150 Leisure van conversion that has run successfully for 190K miles w it's remote mount module. It seems like Ford had converted most of it's production in the early 90's to remote mount till it quit using the TFI system. I feel it is the only way to keep that module alive in the real world and when you DO have to trouble-shoot it....It IS easier to get at....
I went the route of gutting an older module and soldering 3 leads thru it. It seamed to me the quickest and easiest way to get the wires connected w/o risking the removal of the diz and actually it was very quick and quite simple to do..
I mounted the heat-sink tween the air-box and the fuel relay...it just fits like a glove there..
when you strip the diz harness back from the main and lay it out to reposition it...it fit perfectly w/o lengthening. I stripped an older harness from an 84 i dura-sparked and robbed the ground shielding...(in my 84 harness they actually had ground shielding loom instead of the tin foil used late years...
i grounded my heat sink to the bat neg term..as well as the heat shield loom...
anyway...i would include pics but i can't imbed here ..
I have thought of making an extra harness or two ...i have an 87 ' i will do this to as well unless i put a 4-banger in it....
anyway....remote mount.....easy and in my view....a necessary project for the discriminating TFI user.... and virtually no cost to speak of....the hardest part was getting started...
