My daughter's 86 Ranger

looks good man, i hope she appreciates the amount of time and effort youve put into this truck. i think the flat bed will look great on the truck, and from what ive seen so far with your level experience theres no way we'll be dissapointed. as for the gas tank, Dorman makes a replacement that you should be able to order from your local parts store. heres a link to the dorman website, the gas tanks retail for 140.00 at our store (auto value/ bumper to bumper)

Try JCWhitney too, they probably have some tanks that would work.

Andres, the grill came with the truck so i don't know where he bought it, but I do like how it looks as well. A number of people have told me to go with a box instead of the flatbed, but I wasn't able to find one in decent shape and I just don't have the funds for one. So for now, I will use the flatbed and maybe get it replaced in the future. I will be putting the flatbed back on tomorrow and then start working on the wooden stake sides which I hope will look pretty good on it. I did run into some issues with the gas tank. It had one corner that was rusted pretty good so I started to clean the tank so I could paint it and protect it. In doing so, I now have a nice little hole in it. I have found tanks on ebay for a little over $100, but do you all have any suggestions on where to look?

Fiberglass it.

I originally planned on spending a lot more time working on the truck today, but things didn't work out. i did manage to get the flat bed on her so will hopefully be able to get the seat brackets modified so they can be installed tomorrow.

Now it can haul a smart car or a geo metro!!!!!!

That flat deck cleaned up nice, as did the rest of the truck. Bravo!

Well this thread made my morning a little more pleasant before work. Looking good. You should just give her my truck and I'll drive that one. It's 1 year younger than she is. :icon_thumby:

i would love to have a truck like that , it is looking good

looks awesome only thing that would could make the bed better is a full height headache rack but still looks good

Thanks for all of the comments. Yesterday, I got the brackets for the bucket seats done and the seats drilled and bolted down. I hope to get back out there early this weeks so I can weld the washers and nuts to the floor so that I won't need two people to remove the seats. After that is done, I will remove the seats and use some POR 15 in a couple of areas before I coat it with a sound deadener. The glass will hopefully go back in at the end of this week and then will work on cleaning up the rest of the interior. I will probably get the wood for the stake sides this week as well and get started on that.

i think the bed looks awesome the way it is , but that is just how i like flatbeds
