So I've always read this site and used it for answers and figured I'd join here. The tech library and forum search have pretty much saved me from buying a haynes manual many times. (probably going to buy one anyway lol)
Not really a Ford guy (crap gonna get shunned) Used to have 91 Ranger 2wd single cab with a 3.0 m5od. Was not a bad truck, very reliable, and good on gas. Just not very fast and easy to get stuck. All was well with that until I had what they call "mayhem" in an Allstate commercial. Tapped a guy, did a lot more damage to me than him.
Now my next find was also a similar pickup that I got as a project. It's a '90 4x4 single cab 7' box with a 2.9 m5od. It seems to be in decent mechanical condition but it got a little banged up on an embankment where it messed up some shit. Now I bet once you read on, you're going to be thinking "Way to go on that fine purshase" with a hint of sarcasm, but I'll admit it. I probably should of not even thought about it. But I'm stuck with it and the only thing to do is get it legal, drive it, and figure it out from there.
Now here's the bad side of it and all the issues I have/had
-Frame horns in front got bent up where the bumper brackets bolts on. Most of it was fixable but with the brackets bolted on the outside, they will not be straight enough, and just a hair too far apart. SO the solution I'm looking at is having the brackets welded to the inside of the frame. A test fit showed that the result will be a hell of a lot better than anything else. It's pretty much WHERE it should be.
-Tail light area of bed side was banged up. Got a new light housing in but it's not the prettiest. Pass. door has some issues as well as the bottom front corner of the fender being pushed in a little.
-Filler piece between grill and bumper needs to be pulled off.
Also could use a camber fix on the one tire.
Sounds like a little mess huh? Once the bumper gets put on I should almost be able to take it in for inspection so it's not a total waste as long as it's legal and runs. Sometimes we buy dumb shit, I try not to let it be vehicles but shit happens.
Hopefully some loony will buy it when I don't need it.
Probably some shit I forgot but I bet this whole introduction/story makes some people feel good about the exterior and value of their own vehicles.
