My Build - Ranger SHO / Ranger GT

hey man your really close to me i got to school in middletown and i really need a bed for my 3rd gen. were are you finding these trucks

I have a friend with a salvage yard, mostly Fords.
He probably has your bed.

Not much new here.
The ac works although it has a slow leak.
I detailed the paint on the cab months ago.
And on a whim, I started cleaning the crusty interior.
I have carpet to install but was waiting to get non dusty seats.
I found seats and upon istalling them found rust.

After opening up the effected area.
Will need to cut from a donor to repair properly.

Meanwhile the seats went in so I can continue to drive.

Seats are from a 1998 Explorer, both power with lumbar.
The drivers seat has power bolsters.
I thought it was for the seat back like the SHO's.
But it's for the seat bottom.
The original split bench seats.

Those seats are prime, I have a set of the same, but I chose the tan ones, because obviosuly I have the tan interior, Have yo uhooked power to the seats yet? How did you run the wiring? Do you feel like doing a mini build thread on the seat install?

This seems like one of those cool as hell builds that never goes anywhere.... I figured 3 SHO Rangers would be done by now...

I didn't wire them up yet.
I have to go thru the schematics yet.

I know, I mean really what's the deal.
I have a 30 x 70' garage I've been working on.
I'm adding a shop area across the back and possibly a second floor.
Too many projects and not enough me.

Went to a salvage yard Tuesday.
Got a leather steering wheel, dual visors with lights, floor console annd a roof console.
The steering wheel was installed the same day.
It's a thick rim, thicker than any other Explorer that was there.

The old wheel was disgusting.

Is the ranger going to get a SHO motor is has that idea been put on the back burner?

Here are the visors and roof console.

The visors need a ground so here's what I did.
2010-09-18003.jpg

I made openings for the consoles front mounts.
The 'goof' on the right side was a harness mount.

And used the Explorers front mount for the rear.

The Explorer header panel is different than the Rangers.
I rerouted the wiring as it would have interfered with the headliner.

The roof console will need to be trimmed.

And I added a SHO shift knob, splined vs threaded.

I found a donor and removed the dash, doors and related items.

From this donor I will be adding: tilt, cruise, PW, PL, PM, Remote with anti theft, gages with tach, fogs and possibly 4WABS.
I'll be adding a one touch module to the passenger door.
Don't you just love wiring ?

I also Dynomatted the roof.
And added a Pioneer with Pioneer 4 way speakers at all corners.

An update on the roof console.
I added the stock front mount but bent the center tab upward to position the correct angle.
I covered the tab end to prevent noise.
2010-11-13001.jpg

Then I rotated the rear mount 180 degrees.
2010-11-23001.jpg

I had to modify the console side plastic mount as well, rotating it 180 degrees, a bit of cutting and glueing in spacers at the correct angle.

Instead of the rear mount using the headliner as the rear support, it is now self supportive.
It will not require perfect alignment with the headliner.
