I'm making plans for my 4th B2. I need a 2nd vehicle, that is dependable, cause my Ranger is being made into a beast, will possibly be down every so ofen due to trail carnage, and the tires cost too much. So here's my plan.

88 B2- dirt cheap, rust bucket, from a friend, no engine
D35- from my Ranger, after some repairs, has new brakes hoses and W/Bs, 3.27 welded
8.8- from my Ranger, has new brakes lines and cables, 3.27 open
2.3L- $100 w/ ecu and harnesses
5spd- have the 2.9 one with a pan, ?Bolt to a 2.3?

Mods,
Extended shackles- I'll make em
Coil Spacers- from my Ranger
2'' Body lift- bought for previous B2 never installed
Poly body mounts- bought for previous B2 never installed
Chopped top- my last B2 was and I loved it
Trimmed fenders
31'' tires- lying around
Bedliner 2 tone w/ blue camo paint

I basically have everything but the engine and paint. I'm lookin to have something I'm not worried about breaking(too bad) and that I can do a little wheelin with. Just a back-up beater. I also don't want to put any money into it, as building the Ranger empties my pocket every week.

BTW, I've had my fill with the 2.9, I've blown 3, and the lifters drive me crazy. Don't even mention it. It would get a 4.0 and M5, but that costs much more.

So, what are you opinions? Do it or not?:icon_confused:

I like the 2.3 idea... Maybe a 4.0 later if you can find one cheap?

That 4 banger is going to have fits with those 3.27's and 31's.

The 2.3L has a different bell housing pattern than that of the 2.9L, 2.8L and 4.0L.

Yeah, I'd say you at least need some 3.73's to help the 4-popper spin up... I really wanted to put a 2.3 into my BII... Good luck, I'd like to see this done :)

What CopyKat said.

I would look for a 4.0, if your going to be running 3.27's and 31's.

Sounds like a fun trail runner tho!

With the amount of lift you are going to have are you even going to need to trim the fenders? My brother and I are in the process of putting a 2.3l in a B2 and your best bet is to not waste your time with it.

My brother just picked up a rotted out 94 EB Exploder w/90k mi, really cheap. He's takin the trans, I got the engine swap. 4.0 it is.
