My AR Build

I have about 1200ish in my setup. My price list is below. Stuff is starting to drop and I am already thinking about selling mine for car/truck parts.

Mega Lower-135
Blackthorne build kit-70
Magpul stock w/ buffer tube (mil-spec)-50 used
Magpul grip-30
AR stoner BCG-180 (i think I overpaid a little)
BCM Upper - 459
Fortis free float rail - 200
Sightmark sm14000 optic - 100

I want to get an AR in .300 blackout.

that'd be cool, but i havent seen that stuff for sale anywhere around here but gun shows and it was pricey

Gun shows have always been pricey, you can find good deals there, but it's usually on the less common stuff. .300 Blackout is really only available online in small numbers, and AR's are almost non existent for them. You can find upper assembly's, but in most cases the setup is more expensive than just buying the gun.

as soon as i hit the lottery i'll have one with tens of thousands of rounds on hand lol

Yeah, then no one else would have any.

Yeah they will, once he has the corner on the market Eddy can resell it for a fair price since he is such a nice guy. :icon_thumby:

I would love to have one in 6.8SPC someday... that stuff isn't very cheap either.

It is really too bad there isn't a smaller .24+ round that they can latch on to and really run with it for those of us that can't hunt deer with a .223. :annoyed:

Maybe you could use .17HMR but you'd have to get a headshot. Lol

I feel ya on the 6.8SPC, but you can get .243 in an AR platform. I don't know if anyone makes an off the shelf upper for it, but the components do exist to build it. I've personally just skipped right over those when looking cause I have a Remington 788 in that caliber for a hunting rifle.

Some places actually have a minimum caliber for hunting big game (IE: Deer), and .17 is definitely below that limit. IIRC the minimum legal here in Georgia is a .22 centerfire.

Yeah I think there's only a few that let you hunt deer rimfire, I think in Texas you can't use any type of rimfire ammo on deer, only varmints. I think I'll go check it out.

i was always under the impression that you could not use a .223 here in NC to hunt with, but i was wrong. after reading through the latest nc wildlife resources commission booklet, the smallest cartridge you can use is a .22 for hunting big game. (not allowed to use any rifle on waterfowl or turkeys though). which is F-ing nuts, i would never try to kill a deer with .22. i like eating them, not tracking them for hours on end in the freezing cold.

but it does makes sense to be able to use a .223 here, especially where i hunt in the eastern part of the state, b/c the deer are pretty small. last buck i shot was about 120-130 pounds. it's rare to hear of anything over 200. so i do plan on hunting with this rifle as well as target shoot.

I think the best caliber for deer hunting is the .243

i agree, here in NC, a well placed .243 will drop any deer. i think my next bolt gun is gonna be a lightweight .243 to take deer hunting.

got me a magpul grip at the gun store yesterday. i like it a lot more than the other one.

Damn, those be tiny-ass deer.

Is that live weight or dressed? Those are tiny if its live. Most of ours have ranged from 150-190 field dressed.
