My 4x4 isn't working and I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong. :temper: I click it in to 4x4 High i hear a few clicks behind the radio and I roll forward to get it to lock in and wait to hear the clunk of it locking in and it never happens. The 4x4 light pops up on the dash and doesn't blink at all it won't even try to go in 4x4 low. I read about the auto hubs are not supposed to have grease in the hubs so I took them apart, they had some grease in them but they weren't full though i'd say there was more than a little. I didn't notice anything broken at least anything obvious. I got them all cleaned up and tried it out and nothing.:bawling:. I know the auto hubs are the most common problem but I really don't want to buy new hubs untill I know for sure there whats wrong. Please somebody help me out I need this for hunting season and winter is coming fast.

Tech library, there is a writeup for cleaning the electronic motor in the back of the transfer case. Its held on with 3 bolts, 20 minute fix. There should be a self test button on the 4x4 computer, theres a writeup for that too. I dont know if you have the GEM module or not but that needs to be tested. And there is not always a clunk. but you need to be in neutral in order to put the 4x4 into 4lo.

but im thinkin you just need to clean the motor. DON'T BUY THE FREAKIN SHIFTER!!!!

Ya I know I have to be in nuetral to go in 4 low.

I've been in the tech library several times I can't seem to find anything on the self test button on the 4x4 computer.
