Well its been about two weeks since ive started this project. blew a head gasket on the 2.3 in it and i have another ranger laying around so thought it would be a good project. the donor truck is a 94 supercab 4x4. so far i have replaced the 7.5 rear end with an 8.8, 3" body lift and put the skid plate from the 4x4 on mine, i tried the larger gas tank in it but just couldn't get it to fit. today went and yanked out the motor and the wiring harness and since the transmission one the 4.0 is a manual i will be getting rid of the automatic. after a while i will plan on converting it to 4x4 and lifting it. but for right now the only thing left is swapping the motors.

got a whole bunch of goodies today: clutch pedals and lines, complete engine and bay wiring harness, and air intake tube. it all cost $160

lookin' good! the f150 in your avatar looks sweet, what are the specs on that?

It's my 02' f-150 supercrew, it has about a 9" suspension lift and a 3" body with 37's. it sucks now cause thats the only thing i can drive around till the ranger is done and it loves to eat the gas.

if you want your ranger to be a 4x4...now is the time to do it wile you have the motor out.....becouse you need ot change the cross member...there has been a few guys that have not changed the cross member..but your best bet would to be to change it out now..hate to see you have to take the motor back out

if you have a 4.0, 4x4, 8.8, why didnt u just keep that rather than making the 2.3 into that>?

i dont have a title for the truck and the body is pretty rough, same with the interior. i wish i could have been able to. would have saved me alot of work.

Yes swap the cross member and axle now. You already have both engines out.:icon_thumby:

i hear that is pretty difficult to do although it only looks like drilling out riviets. have any of you swapped the cross member before?
pic of the sweet donor truck out at the junk yard :D

well ive got the 4.0 and the engine bay cleaned up and all the wiring has been swithced, the engine came out of a 94 so i had to change the engine harness and make some changes to it to work the the newer style. other than that its ready to be put in which i will try to do tomorrow afternoon.

well since i couldn't put the motor in today i decided i might as well put the other wheels and tires on it instead of doing nothing.
