I love old internationals (my dad had 2 62 scouts)

I love it man..good luck with it.

I think you need a seat cover. :icon_twisted:

Keep us posted on your project :icon_thumby:

????

I've driven my share of 70's model International trucks when I was in the military, but they were all 345 V8's.......is it me, or does that have a slant 4 cyl?

I was always told IH cut their v8's in half and used those halves as 4 cylinders which gave them that slant look. Not sure if that would work but it seems possible.

Yep, it is a stock 4 banger.....I don't remember the cubic inches right off...it did have a T-15 (I think) 3 spd.

thats awesome dude looks like its pretty solid to start with too. keep us posted.

Its either a 152 or a 196 Looks like a 152 one of my buddys just picked up a 65 scout 800 with a 152 4 speed for free!!!

I haven't been able to find out much info on the 900 series, apparently it was International's attempt at a "compact" p/u. All they did was shorten the wheelbase & apparently add the 4 cyl.......

It is UNBELIEVABLY solid!!!! It has definitely had a good place to sit for the last 25 years or so, I can't wait to get started on 'er...:headbang:

The A-900 was an option for a few years...63 to 66?...and was intended for light delivery. The box was only about 4.5 feet long, so it's about right for running errands. The slant 4 was indeed either 152 or 196 (think half of a 345 or 392) and was functionally half of either of the mentioned v8's, but with a truncated block. Heads, distributors (except for the rub-block) and exhaust manifolds were all shared with the v8's. Cams may even have been the same. Mileage was decent, about 16-18 mpg. Most were 3 speeds, but I've seen 2 t98 4 speeds. There were few made, but IHC was willing to do one-offs, so the A-900 kind of gets lost in the sea of 'rare' IHC's.

If this one's solid, by all means do what you can to protect it as a rare vehicle. The rust-bug has the same zest for A-900 sheetmetal as it does for any other IHC of the era. If you can keep it clean and dry and kill the rustbugs as they show, it should be a good rig around town.

All in all, good find, and good luck with this project!

Allen, if you decide to go a little custom with it, I'd find a 6.9L international with a T-18 or even a ZF, that would be a kool combo, not to mention staying IH :icon_thumby:

Thanks for the info man!! The whole truck is solid as a rock, the ONLY rust I have found on it is in the driver side floor board and it is just enough for mice to climb in and chew up the seat to make a home in the glovebox....
