My 1986 turbo diesel

About the only thing I'd do to that truck is swap out the wheels/tires for later alloys (same size) and a set of Firestone Destination A/T's, which are some tires I'm running in my 4x4 Ranger ('94, 2.3, 5-speed).

yea i got a set of rims off my bronco 2 they look like the welds 89 style rim, with new tires pirelli scorpions. ima swap out. i need to get the speedo fixed first it bobbles up/down alot. o yea and a new right speaker. that would be the finishing touches.

I actually think those rims look perfect on that generation ranger. I wouldn't do much too it, but I would swap out the black bumpers for chrome ones and also find some sort of seat/seats that have head restraints between your noggin and the rear glass. Those old trucks just make it too easy to embed the back of head with shards of broken glass in even a mild accident. It's always the first thing I do when I get an old truck.

so it takes you like what ................. 3 days to get to 60 mph?

nice clean good looking gen1

its not a turd(2.2l mazda/perkins) its a 5spd 2.3l mitsu turbo 0-60 bout the same as my bronco 2. 5th gear on the highway with it powers right up those hills. its got the same specs as a 2.3l gasser. alot of vibration when idling but smoothes out u give any gas and yea it does sound mean but i was think single stack behind passenger with tractor flapper lol:icon_hornsup:

don't mind me I am just Jealous, I wish I could find a clean 4x4 Turbo diesel ranger...... might even part with my chevy for one.

sry guys i will post sum more pics tomorow. ive been workin late get home and its dark. i will probably never get rid of this truck. its too cool!:headbang:

anybody on this site have 1 if so u got any tips/info/experiences..

My experience is that everything else will have a problem before the motor. I just recently replaced glow plugs and used the ones from the 2.2 perkins and they work amazing. Not much else went bad that any parts store couldnt get a hold of. But mines still goin at 540k and was driven hard so the truck should last a long time :icon_thumby:

build a pop tester and learn how to rebuild your own injectors..... never buy cheap Ebay Chinese junk injectors to save a $100......... I hydrolocked the engine in my chevy with diesel fuel because 1 of my chinese junk injectors failed.

where do you live to own such a clean first Gen.??? my 99 is starting to rust already and i wash it religously!!!
