Not 13. I live in a City with streets and pavement. I also like to get on an open road an go fast from time to time. Probably the same way some of ya'll like to go into the woods and trail ride. Just like you want to build a baddass rock crawler or whatever, I want to build a sweet ass street rod out of my ranger. Whats wrong with that.
The new Ranger will already have pretty much the same powertrain as a base Mustang.
So ... the Ranger will go as fast as the Slowest mustang Cool cant wait to get ahold of one of those things.
I don't understand how ya'll think 4wd rangers are the only thing that should get built. Some of ya'll have 3 or 4 4wd trucks. That's cool, for you. I do not want 4wd or even need it where I go. So why is it so hard to understand that not everybody wants a high COG ( center of gravity) with oversized tires. This is the only forum I am a member of but I am seriously looking for a more STREET oriented forum, since this FORUM is obviously geared towards off-roading, overlanding, and rock crawling. If there are any forums out there that you all know of, Please let me know. Really starting to feel unwelcome here.
Every time I mention a fast single cab 2wd truck I get beat down with "why" and there's no market for that anymore, SMH. I just wanted help/info on building a nice Ranger for the streets not the trails.
I understand this, that's why I'm building mineWell with the Mustang being a sports car, and the Ranger being a 1/4 ton pickup, Ford probably doesn't think there is much market for a performance version, which is why they aren't building one. Not enough profit.
.
Now there actually is a lot of information here about lowering your truck, and other street performance topics, but you have to look for them. One of the trends I have noticed around here after almost 10 years, is that the 4x4 guys come in, learn, do their thing, then hang around and show off pictures of trail rides, share what they have learned, and help answer questions for people trying to get started..
The street guys on the other hand, tend to come in, learn what they can about dropping their trucks, and once they get it finished and throw up a few "finished product" pics, we don't hear from most of them again. It isn't that this forum is hostile to 2wd street trucks by design, it's just a matter of who hangs around after their project is finished, and who doesn't..
For those of us who go the lifted 4x4 route, some them prefer that styling, but for many of us it is a matter of functionality. Many use them for trail rides, other just live in area where you pretty much need the height and the 4x4 to get around in winter, at least a few times a year. I personally have had to deal with at least two storms each year, for the last four years, that were up around my bumpers. For those of us who deal with harsh winters where you almost have to have a 4x4, and while a high COG can cause stability problems if you get careless, sometimes ground clearance is more important, these are facts of life that make a lowered truck seem like a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Exciting for a little bit, but not really worthwhile in the long run.

Oh good grief. You're hearing what you think people are saying instead of actually listening.
Hey, one night at the 1/8 mile strip I watched a brand new 300hp V6 automatic Mustang PUMMEL two LS1/LS2 late model GTO's, don't sell it short.![]()
I never said a thing about 2wd, I get you don't need that. However I actually own a standard cab truck, for what it is it is fun... but day to day it was less than ideal. In high school with little bro 3 years behind me I had to have a toolbox in the back to keep our backpacks in during bad weather. Hunting is a PITA having to shuffle guns from the back (in the weather) to the front when we stop for lunch. And they have to ride in the back with a bleeding out deer.
I have a Corolla for this applicationI have an extended cab F-150 and I use the back seat for just about everything but sitting. Chocolate lab rides there, my AR was riding back there last night when I went shooting. Bow case fits nicely back there. Groceries go there so I am not chasing soup cans all over the bed with a broom.
I have lived with one for 18 years almost to the day, while I love the truck and have no intentions of it going anywhere... I just don't care to have another standard cab DD again.
Actually we have quite a few nice 2wd build threads going. That forum is probably more active than the 4wd forum if you want to get technical.

I've already stated that NONE of this applies to me. I live, drive, and stay on pavement in this truck. No need for any 4wd related info, but that is what I get. If I ask a 2wd question I get a 4wd answer, do you know how disheartening that is, When you think you have the info you need and then NONE of it is of use because they were speaking in 4wd terms and you have a 2wd.
It's not. I do not drive a 2wd lifted truck nor do I drive a lowered or minitruck. those are my two options that are not 4wd related. My ride is a stock 2wd ranger with the hopes of getting a v8 donor. I have been all over this forum for the past few months and have received a lot of info, but when it comes to 2wd street rangers, there is not a lot.obviously this is an uphill battle, I will just take the info that applies to me and throw away the other 90% of it.
