I have had this idea for awhile and i have never installed a sun roof in any vehicle bfor. Whats involved in this installation? My buddy wants this done on his s10 also so if any one can help it would much appreciated every one :icon_welder:

Did it once to a F-250 I had.
Remove headliner and everything within the cut radius inside the cab.
Make a template from your sunroof frame on posterboard or stiff paper.
Measure placement of the sunroof very carefully on all 4 sides of the roof.
trace that template on the roof, or tape it very securely.
Start a pilot hole near your cut line on the inside.
put a double layer of tape on your jigsaw base (to keep from scratching the paint)
cut out the hole you marked. make it a tiny bit smaller than you need so you don't overcut like I did. Go very slow and take your time.
test fit the frame, and trim accordingly.
install with some sealant around the edges to keep it from leaking.
Cut, trim and replace the headliner.

cool thanx lil ranger. I figured that there wasnt much to doing it just needed to be put in the right direction.

you might have a problem, when you drop the head liner check to see if there is a bar running back in the middle of the cab. if there is, there is in my 94' single cab, a sunroof IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. i wanted to put one in my truck and was gunna pay california sunroof to put one in and they said they would not because it could compromise the structural integraty of the truck in an event of a roll over accident.

i dont know if there is one or not. I would believe there is one considering that doesnt sound like that part of fords design would change from 94 to 95. i will def have to check to see if there is one though. thanx for the heads up!!

You are wanting to install this sunroof from a Foxbody? If you are then you are opening up one big can of worms. Those sunroofs have a gutter system around them as they don't leak when it rains. The downspouts if you will run out either in front of the rear tire or in back of the front tire. So if you want to install the whole roof that would be a cool upgrade from you currently have. But it will be a pain to install.

the first gen (1991-94) explorer sunroof is a much easier install.

The mustang sunroof is not designed for installing in another vehicle, the roof panel for the sunroof equipped mustangs is actually different, there is a pressed in recess for the sunroof.

The explorer sunroof actually clamps in place (torx head screws on the inside)

And the explorer sunroof also has a "gutter" with drain hoses,
installing the drain hoses isn't rocket surgery.

well guys we tried it on my buddies 95 s10 first and holy hell. It doesnt leak and it fit very nicely btw.we took our time and measured and measured and measured. After six hours and no sleep it was finished. installing the headliner was a pain though because of making the sure the hole was cut correctly. We didnt want to cut too big of a hole.on a scale of 1-10 i think it was bout 6.we are going to install one in my ranger now that we know we can do it right. while i have the headliner out im shaving my third brake light off of her also.
