Alrighty everyone, heres the thing gotta '75 mustangII 2.8L waiting on carb then its done and ready to swap, heres the questions...
all these people that say 2.8 is a 2.8 you are correct, yet wrong. few differences i know different distributor and also the water pump. but are there any other differences? im hoping to do this swap by the beginning of next month anyone out there can help me?

Do you mean a 2.8 to a 2.9 swap? Because I have always thought that a 2.9 swapped into a mustang II would be the coolest thing, other than a mustang II with a v-8.... the mounts are the same, the trans would bolt up.....to have a car that looks as cool as that with the reliability and efficiency of fuel injection.... I do have an affinity for the 2.9...

the 75 has a duraspark distributor, If you are losing the computer you will want to keep that. Don't know about the water pump.

2.8 > 2.9 :stirthepot:

If you don't have emissions testing do the Duraspark swap now. Keep the non feedback Mustang II carburator if you can too to complete the Duraspark conversion.

Dunno know about the water pump, it might have something different with the lower radiator hose neck. I have 0 Mustang II experiance but the Ranger neck design leaves a lot to be desired The way they sandwiched the timing cover between two aluminum necks, the back one you can't see with the A/C compressor or power steering pump installed is tapped for the really long bolts that hold it all together.

That is about it for major stuff for pre RBV 2.8's that I know of.

I had a older 2.8 in my bronco II, the water pump from a older 2.8 will fit on the newer 2.8. There is a difference on the camshaft. The older 2.8 motor had a bigger front journal diameter. I have a nice cam for a older 2.8 motor if you are interested. I will sell it for $100.00. It cost me almost $200.00 to have made. It is a crane cam.

mustang 2.8 into Ranger

I have the same dilemna--appears the timing chain cover has to swap lower rad hose housing has a different bolt pattern--the older housing will hit the steering box. I think your oil pan and pump have to swap over but you won't have a hole for your dipstick! Hopefully someone can shed some light on this swap--i have a good Mustang 2.8 and it will give me the desired Duraspark--scoyote
