I see a fair number of rangers with the mustang "bullit" style wheel. The 5 spoke anthracite that seems to be common to find.

Here's my question. I went to look at a set today... they are from a 2005 'stang... and they are 17x8. The backspacing on them is 6.25", which seems pretty non compatible with the ranger without massive spacers bolted up.

These are for my 94 ibeam ranger. They are in great condition, they are true OEM, the price is right and they are not stolen. But seems to me this is quite a long way away from correct fitment with a modest spacer.

The pre 2005 have a different backspacing, at least half an inch less, that fits a lot better. Still might need a spacer, but not as much of one. Spacer requirement on the earlier bullitts is a case by case thing, some trucks need it some don't. Not sure if anyone has really figured out the variation, may be the wheels or may be the trucks. IIRC aftermarket replicas are almost guaranteed to fit without a spacer, but I guess you'd rather have OEM takeoffs to save a little $$.

Quick googling puts 01-04 bullitts at 5.72" backspace and 05+ bullitts at 6.295".

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling that in addition to that, the previous model is a 17x7 instead of 8.

My preference for OEM is strictly based on having dealt with replica wheels that are great, but are not as durable finish wise. That's all.
