I pulled a light from a 97 V6 Mustang to go into my 99 Ranger extended cab.
I put the light in, and the switch on the dash does no turn on the lights. Also, when I turn on the map with the switch on the light fixture the center light lights up and so does the map light, but very dimly.
What do I need to do to fix this?

There should have been two wires in the ceiling of your Ranger. One wire is used for lighting the dome fixture when doors are opened the other is for dimming the dome light via the dash mounted dimmer switch. I would not know how the Mustang dome light is wired. Hope this is useful.

Found out I was missing a screw, I had it in my cup holder and just plain forgot about it.

Now the question is what LED should I get for it?

The "dome" light is a 211, but the map lights are a different number. Would 211 work in both?
And what is the difference between the two, if they're the same length and size? Intensity?

Will they be brighter than stock?

Defiantly, 97 bulbs vs new leds, I have a 360 led bulb and it wasn't as bright as my stock light then again it was amber and my truck is from 07. But in any case it will be nice, you don't want it crazy bright so I think you will like it.

Hopefully. If there a way to make the map lights turn on when you open the door, much like the stock fixture did?

Yes, you just have to wire them to the regular stock wiring.

Oh I see what your saying, the mustang probably had separate wires running to the two other lights, You could probably splice in two wires to run to them.

Noo, the old ranger light did that. I have a 98 Mustang, and only the middle one turns on when I open the door. But I think with an LED, I will not need the other lights, hopefully.
