my 86 2.9 has a stumble that develops once it is warm and sits in beep and creep traffic. I have replaced the following: Both catalytic converters, Both fuel pumps and filters, cold air intake temp sensor, wires, plugs, coil, complete distributor and have remote located the TFI module into a heat sink on the firewall. When i replace the TFI it ran like a race car and the stumble returned. Remote locating it and getting new dist. hasnt changed anything. I love my Bll but this is getting old, what am I missing????

i think it a vacume line check ur charcoal canister and all vacume lines

im not running an 02 i have duals with shorty cherry bombs. mine runs fine

no o2 sensor is better then a bad one. because without a sensor your emissions will run closed loop like when its cold with factory set emission numbers. mine would sputter and miss when it was hot because my o2 sensor would kick in when it got to normal operating temperature and send bad readings.

without the o2 sensor im not sure i will pass inspection, its nice to get new ideas. i was stuck on it being a spark issue. Someone said it may be the main computer but i doubt the computer is temperature sensitive Ahhhh

no it wouldnt pass an inspection legally you have to have the o2 sensor.
just get that replaced it wont hurt to change it.

try the coolant temp sen for the computer it fixed that exact prob on my buddys truck

thats another thing that should be replaced i forgot about that. but if neither of those solutions works. i would go and replace that tfi or get it tested it might just be bad again.

I will change those items and get the TFI tested or swapped out, i appreciate all of the advice.Ill keep you guys updated.in the meantime any more thoughts would be cool, i cant wait to put this thing back on the trails.

tested the TFI and it all good and the coolant temp sensor has been replaced. no improvement but havent done the o2 sensor yet well see........

o2 sensor did nothing for the stumble. its finally cooling off a bit here, it only gets to 70 as a high so i took it to work and barely made it home. that is another symptom by the way, the colder the air temp the less problem it has. any real reason why???
