Well my girlfriend wanted to do something fun with her son this weekend before he started 2nd grade today, so we chose a local battlefield to attend with a great looking museum, Pamplin Historical Park. We are huge American History fans(mainly The Civil War era, with the area we grew up in the history is abundant). Well we got there and it was closed for a private wedding.. already over an hour from home and not having a ton of time to spare it hit me, an ex co-workers friend owned a truck and tractor museum in Petersburg. It was the perfect save to the day for a 7 year old, and apparently us too! If your ever on i95 heading through Richmond it is definitely worth the stop. 1 minute off of 95. Keystone Truck & Tractor museum. Owned by Keith Jones it is his personal collection (he owns Abilene Trucking)

Note the book in the store on the Ford Ranger. Anyone ever flipped through this? May order one.

Very cool museum. This might be a good thread to start for museums to see nationwide.

I've personally liked visiting museums, national/state parks that are history related, and ghost towns. Of course, that always lead to off-roading trails to see things from a different view.

Good thought! Maybe a staff would want to create one and move. Also yes I ALWAYS have my eyes open looking for trails I can one day take my Bronco down... just need to finish it lol. There was a 60's Power Wagon in there that looked plenty capable of trailing just was a bit too clean!

Thank you for the pics, that looks like a great place! Growing up, our standard family vacation was going to visit a museum or historical society somewhere. We now tie those types of visits into our camping trips from time to time. Another thing that's awesome to see are steam shows. There's a big one in Western Minnesota that has all kinds of antique engines and machinery running. You can watch them plow fields and thresh and whatnot with steam and oil tractors, and they also have tons of stationary engines running. I've seen the same stuff for years in a row there, but I'm always awestruck by it. There's nothing like the sensory experience being near a big steam engine really having the screws put to it.

One of the family that started/owns Marvin Windows has a collection of cars and stuff up in Northern MN I want to go see, but regretfully didn't make it happen before moving. Now it seems unlikely I'll ever get there. I saw it on an early morning TV show once, 100 something cars and a bunch of other stuff there.

I want to stop st the bigfoot museum in bigfoot texas but my wife just asked me to google it and check the reviews.

I guess we arent going there now :(
