Does anyone have Cherry Bomb mufflers? i have a 2.3L and want to know if they would give me a nice low rummble. any other suggestions welcome

I just installed a stainless Gibson Side Swept System. It sounds pretty decent, a lot better than a cherry bomb on a 4-cyl. IMO.

hey guys(or ladies ;p),
i just put dual cherry bombs on my 1982 chevy elcamino v6
let me tell you they are very loud!!
they have a nice idle sound but when you kick it down sound like open headers.
im gonna have to sell these and get something more conventional (i.e. quiet) as i am in the middle of CA and cops hate loud cars ;)

a v-6 isnt a 4 banger.

please dont due it unless you plan on hanging out with the honda crowd.

I have to admit...IMO, a cherrybomb glasspack on a 4 banger would not be the way to go unless you want to do what Wicked_Sludge said..."hang with the HONDA crowd"...now I have listened to my buddies' 1996 or '97 2.3 ranger with a flowmaster on it and it did sound quite goods for a 4 cyl. It wasnt until about 4,000 rpm's or so until it really revaled its true colors. But if i had to put a muffler on a 2.3, it would be a flowmaster 40.

I was experimenting with exhaust set-ups on my 2.3 ranger and settled on a flowmaster 40 followed by an oval turbo muffler. Sounded dang good at idle. By 3000 RPM you could tell it's a 4-banger though.

Now I have a ported and polished head with oversized valves. From 4000 RPM to Redline the motor actually sounds pretty mean. It's got a nice refined sreaming roar to it.

I'm finally putting the turbo on this weekend. When it's all said and done it should put down about 30-50 more HP than a stock HO 5.0L. I can't wait to here what it sounds like with the turbine in the T3 screaming at 130000 RPMS! It's just going to have open 3" pipe after the turbo, no mufflers or nothing. The turbo should quiet it down enough that mufflers aren't necessary.

Cherry Bomb makes a turbo muffler. There about $20 at Autozone with lifetime warranty, Not bad for the price.

That's what I've got for the moment, and the price is the reson I got it.

I'm wondering about a flowmaster or at least a generic welded/chambered muffler.

the cherry bomb turbo muffler is pretty restricting. I've got 2.25 inch inlet/outlet on a 2.3, and it still doesn't flow like it should.

You could try getting a 24" glasspack (like a thrush). Don't know if that would help its sound or not. When I had on my v6 it made it sound a lot more like a v8.
