so i have roughrider mud terrain tires 31x10.5x15 an if i have to get goin from a dead stop on the slitest hill my tires will just spin? the truck is manual.
ive tried everything, i try just getting goin with LOW rpms so get more torque an they just still spin an lose traction? could this be a sign that my tires are getting old cuz these tires were on my truck for a long time they still have tread but they are old?

my question is, have they always been like that? if so providing how much tread you have you could take them in to have them siped, it don't hurt the tire none and will improve handling on the highway and around town and provide traction on wet surfaces to some extent better than stock although if you really mash on it, they wil still spin.

well i bought my truck this past winter so i had my truck in 4x4 so i never noticed the spining on wet road until the spring when i got stuck on a hill in 2wd an it was raingin an the tires would just spin i couldnt get them to grip so i just avoid all hills when it rains. i think i might just get some new tires soon.

thats pretty typical of a mud tire on wet pavement.

sipe them it will help a bit,but they wont ever be great on wet roads.

just rember, stoping, and swerving on mud tires on wet roads can cause some major seat cover pucker prints as well

I remember back in HS my friends with mud trucks (35's) complaining every time it snowed. I had snow tires on my beater and loved it.

throw 200 pounds over the rear axle.these trucks are not balanced well.

ok thanks alot for all the help ill put some weight in the back of my truck an hopefully that helps but ill still just avoid hill as much as i can thanks

i have the same problem in my 2wd ranger with stock tires. but i throw it in second (auto tranny) and just crawl untill i feel i can put it back in drive. maybe you could try that with your truck

i've never had an issue with my new mud tires in the rain unless it floor it, but then again i have alittle more weight over my back tires.

from what i understand though, rubber as it gets older gets harder? hard rubber lugs would act like a power wheels on pavment corrct?

Put it to the floor till you get sideways enough and one tire goes off the road and sling shots you up the hill

Or into the ditch on the other side.

I have never had any issues the rain with mine, but the snow is a different story.
