I have a '04 supercab xlt.

I'm looking for some front (who cares about the rear ha) mud flaps that are a direct fit.
I don't want to have to trim them, and I want them to fit nicely.

I prefer the harder plastic ones but would consider the rubber ones. I've looked into the diy flaps, but I prefer the hard plastic ones.

Rather not spend a ton of money, but would spend maybe up to $40 or so for good ones.

Want to keep dirt, water, snow/salt off the underside and front flaps to help to a degree.

Brands? Links? Any good forum vendors?
Thanks guys.

Would the factory one from the rear of a mid 90's mazda work, I wonder?

I have an '01 Edge with the factory flaps. The front ones are only so good for keeping crap off the underside of the cab. They're pretty short (6"?). If that's what you really want them for, under cab protection, I would make sure they're a little longer (8"?).

As for the rear ones, they do a great job of keeping the back of the bed and the inside of the rear bumper clean/clear, especially if you live where it snows. If you tow, they'll keep rocks from being kicked up and at the object under tow. They're pretty useful and don't look that bad.

That said, I have no idea where you'd find a set. Rock Auto doesn't seem to carry them. I wonder if they're still available from Ford.

Hmm.. I don't tow, but maybe I'll get the rears too.

I've found th factory flaps on eBay... But they seem to be the rubber ones, I'd prefer the hard plastic ones.

Jc Whitney has a few too, but not sure how they fit, they all seem to be the "universal" ones

Saw them at local farm type store, found their listing and application chart. Good price if they fit like they say they do. They have the link to the manufacture.

Thanks, I'll check them out tomorrow when I'm on a computer :icon_thumby:

Hopefully they are "custom fit" and not universal aka "don't fit for crap" ones.

Are all the cabs for our trucks the same? Meaning, would an edge flap fit a reg cab that would also fit a supercab (I have the supercab 4 dr)

I only know of two cab configurations; regular and super. I don't know if you can get an Edge package on a super cab. I would think the flaps off of my Edge would fit on any Ranger.

Even if you don't tow, the rear flaps do keep the rear bodywork free from road debris & sand/salt. But, if you don't like the look...

With regard to "plastic" versus "rubber", I think the issue is getting the appropriate supports. My Edge has these nice support brackets which keep the flaps very secure. My flaps do seem to be made of the harder material, they don't move due to wind/rain. I can see why you'd want to locate the ones made of the stiffer material. I hope you can get the supports as well.

I have these.. I got them a Pep-Boys. They are a semi universal mud flap. Their are 5 or 6 different versions that are molded for different applications. Sorry I forgot the name of them.

dude...

that is what I want! Haha... they look like a harder plastic which is what I am after.

The more I look online, there doesn't really seem to be many "custom" Ranger flaps... most of the ford truck ones that are custom are for F-bodies...

I guess I will have to be with "semi-universal" or "universal" ones...
I just want the damn things to fit decently and not look completely out of place.

Maybe pep boys will let me take them out to my truck to look if they will fit before I actually buy any.

How much were yours? Did you have to drill your own holes?

[/IMG]They are a really good fit. The lower mud flap part is hard plastic. The part that is around the body is softer rubber that lets it mold around the shape. I believe in the directions that you could heat it up a bit to conform to the body more, but I didn't need to. Also I think being out in the sun helps to. I did have to drill holes I put 3 instead of 2 screws in each one.

I'm going by there later today so I will find out if they still have them and who makes them.

Okay so went to Pep Boys. They still have them. The ones I have are around 18.00 for 2. Ones a little larger are 30.00 for 2. The application guide shows the larger (8) for rangers. I used (4) that was for the Mazda trucks.

So you went with the smaller ones and not the large ones?
Did you trim yours down at all or just screw them in?
They don't "flap around" at all do they? I like the harder plastic ones like you say.

Any more pics of the fronts? inside wheel well would be great!

Sorry for all the questions... thanks for all the help man! :icon_cheers:

I have the B2300 so I just looked at what it said. I like the smaller ones as I'm rolling on 14" rims so I think it looks better.

For your truck that looks lifted or on much larger tires than mine the larger size I think will look better.

Didn't trim them at all.

Not a real good pic. But it works

No they don't flap around at all. Very hard plastic.
