Well I better start off explaining a little about myself. I'm 14 and I'm from the badger state. We have snow up here a ton and i also love snowmobiling. Well, my tools arnt the best but i make them work. I dont make much so it's kinda slow going but we'll get er done.

Ok now onto the truck, Its a 78 ford f150 4x4 which i named Mud Eater. I traded a 88 chevy s10(running and driving) for this truck. It ran before i tore into it. I'm replacing and repainting some parts to dress it up a little bit. It has a 300 strait 6 with a 4 speed. It has a dana 44 upfront and a 9in rear. It has a flatbed at the moment.

Plans:
Repair all rust
Paint it
Get engine runnin good
Repair bad wiring
Have fun with it!!

Future plans:(prolly will never happen but i like dreaming haha)
351 or 400
lift it and get 39's

Now for the pics!!!

thats cool man, i like it.

how do you like the 300/4spd? im swapping a 300 and 4psd into my 79 in place of a toasted 351m would like to know how they perform.

another thing, can you get a picture of your throttle cable assembly from the fire wall to the carb? im gonna have to change my setup when i switch to the 300 and would like to see how its set up.

I like it. It's decent on hp. It aint fast but it has loads of tourque. It will pull down a house if it had enough traction. It spins any tires that i put on there with easy but it isnt very fast.

I'll get you a pic of that tomorrow. It's pretty simple. I think your gonna like the 300. Me and my dad both have f150's with 300s and they both pull or carry whatever you want. Plus, they dont drink gas like a v8 but they still like it haha

thats cool. HP isnt that big of a deal but but having the torque is good lol.

Welcome to the site! thatts a sweet truck, ive always loved that body style.

@boggin- go with the 300, youll be happy with it. thats whats in my DD, shes a torque MONSTER. and these engines just refuse to die, and i beat the ever living chit out of that thing everyday.

Well not much of an update but heres some pics anyway.
For boggin

Need to weld up my frame. From the first pics of the truck, you can see the very heavy bumper. I'll weld it to make it much stronger.

Sure no problem man. Get that engine swapped out! It'll be a great project. Also, i just got the head off. It looks like its in great shape. Nothing is bent or missing. This pistons and cylinders look great also. Will get pics up later today

my puppy likes to eat mud... lol

and aint the 4bt a direct swap for some of the ole straight 6's.. could be worth looking into.
but main point of my comment.. scribed!

Today, i havent done much with mud eater. Might be picking up a 92 f150 thats lifted 6 inches :yahoo: soon!!!! but anyway i took the fuel filter/water separator off the carb. I hooked up a clean gas line to it and tried to blow through it and could barely blow through it. I decided that since im getting a new fuel filter, i might as well rip this one apart and see what it looks like inside. It is sick. there was a TON of crap in it and i dont know how gas got through there. I think im gonna replace the gas lines too because they're metal and i bet theres a bunch of crap in there. This makes me happy in a way because i know that this might fix some of my problems :D. anyway, ill get pics up later

Haven't been on here for awhile. Well. its back together and runs....horribly. There is this load whining sound from the back of the engine?? any help with that would be nice.

Well its been awhile since i last posted!! The truck is back together and it does run!! but not very good :(. also, after it gets warmed up, coolant starts coming out the radiator overflow line. Tomorrow, I'm buying a ton of new parts but mostly tuneup parts. HOPEFULLY, it'll run good after this but who knows?? Will have pics up in the next few days.

I GOT IT RUNNING GOOD :D!! There is a tube that runs from the throttle and pumps the gas into the venturi. This tube was plugged. I unplugged it and it seems to rev up good. I need to adjust the idle screw yet. I'm gonna put video up on youtube of it running.
