:annoyed:Guys I need your wisdom and advice! First is my fuel gauge. When it’s on (E) and I put gas in it, I can only put 15 gallons in it. Its has 19.5 gallon tank. When it gets low and reads (E) it spits and sputters like it’s almost out of gas. The check gauge light even lights up. Also they trucks has lost a lot Horsepower, at least it feels that way.

My MPGs I was getting 18 mpgs when I bought the truck, and everytime I put some on to improve mpgs it lowered them.

I have done:

Air pressure in tires is correct

New plugs and wires

Brakes are good no hanging up

The cold air intake was suppose to improve (idk if it even has improved anybody’s mpgs):dntknw:

Dual exhaust

I know that it might need a new fuel filter, but I’m worried about the fuel pump also. I'd like to in the future put pulley under drive on her with electric fan.

I could really use help and advice!:icon_confused:

your float in your sending unit could be getting stuck and maybe it could be picking up some water from condensation and thats why its spitting and sputtering or maybe the pickup could be to high up for some reason. cold air intake and dual exhaust dont improve your gas milage. they make it feel and sound better and you hold the pedal down more so no improvement there lol.

Do you really think Ford would have NOT INSTALLED anything that would improve the milage? C'mon wake up! Ford knew wnat they were doing when they invented that vehicle. Reading the ads will only get you in trouble. Listening to guys that have already fell prey to them ads will get you deeper in trouble. If you leave it alone it will last for many years...if you mess with it you will be back here complaining time after time.

lol you guys are both right about the MPGs problem i have. I did the math and 15 gallons got me 18 or 20 MPGs this week. I "might have" 4 gallons of water in the tank. I'm thinking about just running the truck on E intill i run out of whatever is in the tank (taking a gas can with me of course). The gas gauge works it just drops like theres nothing in there at all. (when clearly i have something in there). Also getting fuel system cleaner and new fuel filter. I read from other thread that it worked out for them. **Also this problem started when i ran it completely ran it out of fuel by mistake one day.** I'm just afraid now that someone messed with my truck and put something in my tank. "a possibility?!?" I don't know? what you guys think? i'd like to drop the tank and take a look, which i could drain the "water?!?" out also that way. Like i said i think these factors are possibilities, but I DON"T KNOW as you two know already.

Thanks alot guys, I appreciate the help!

Running out of gas is never a good thing. When you get that low on gas your fuel pump has to work harder. My dad always tells me I shouldn't have less than 1/4 tank in there (i dont listen)

As for the gauge, they do that. I have run for days on e. Its probably set up that way so that you get gas before you risk running out.
