ok well i plan on doing some off roading this summer (just got my truck in the winter) and i know that i would be best off with a winch and i was told that about a 9000 pound winch will do me good and i want to kno how do i mount it to my truck?

You can trim out the grill plastic. Bolt and weld a good heavy piece of plate across the rails then you can mount the winch in there. Since you have a brush bar on it the winch will be somewhat hidden back and protected.

FYI: You don't really need a winch as long as you have some recovery straps (NOT tow straps). Since you shouldn't wheel alone, especially if you have no experience.

Another FYI: Stay OUT of ALL of the Simcoe County Forests. They are ALL off limits to vehicles. Tell your buddies too, just in case. The OF4WD is trying to work out getting some sort of arrangement worked out with the MNR and Simcoe County.

I would suggest joining the OF4WD in order to show support and we need to show a united front.

ok cool ya i took that brush bar off i didnt like it on it so ya it sucks cuz im the only person out of my friends that has a truck to offroad so i need to meet some pll that off road to go with, could i take my grill off and mount it behind that and make something for the cable to go out without cutting my grill??

also ya i kno to stay out of the simcoe forest you get in alot of SH!T but how do i join that thing you were talking about?

There isn't really enough room for a winch in behind the grill with the grill on. The rad and such get in the way since they are tucked up in there as well. You may be able to get everything in there and see how little you really need to trim. The Ranger I saw with it done was a '92 I believe. Didn't look bad at all.

The site I was talking about is the Ontario Federation of 4WD Recreationalists (aka. Northern Lights). Here's the link for you,

ok cool well i might try to rid something up to hide it behind the grill or something but ya thanks for the link, ya i think the guy who owned my truck before me was a member of this site cuz i have a northern lights stick on my truck

my friend owns a big ol truck nobody knows what it is, i think its a chevy, but its got 33's and is lifted ne ways, he cut out part of his bumper and bull bar on the front to fit his bumper in and it hides behind it all u cant even tell its there till u really pay attention, sorry on pics

I never wheel alone, and there have been many times where a strap and a truck pulling just isn't enough.
The winch, on the other hand has never left me stuck.:D

we put a winch on this truck if you can see we just trimmed the grille and used some 1/4'' thick angle iron and mounted it on the front of the frame.. so far its been fine..

ok cool ya well will im thinking about winchs what is a good winch to get?? well they tell me i need something like a 8k winch for my truck and well if anyone had one or a company with good ones for cheep let me kno

Many people will say Warn, they have a very solid reputation.

For less $$$, I went with MileMarker. Got their SE9500. A year later, I'm very happy with it. It's powerful (plenty!) and fast(-ish) enough for me, paid 650$ for it (on special).

For 100$ more I had a used Warn 8000lbs. Could've probably worked out fine as well.

It's expensive, but if you take care of it, it's something you will keep for ages, and give you an incredible peace of mind when offroading.

the smitty biult 8,000 is namb good, and its only $290 just as good as mile marker and half the price.

I picked up a 9,000# Summit (re-badged T-Max) for $465 shipped. With a 6.6hp motor and 37fpm line speed, it is hard to beat. The same T-Max winch normally runs about $700.

Ramsey 8K mounted upside down between the frame rails.
