Hey guys Someone was selling 4 rancho RS9000 shocks for 30 bucks it was to good of a deal to pass up. But my problem is mounting the lower shock eye on the front. I have a 98 4x4. And the stock shock has a little plate threw the eye with 2 bolts going through it, and my "new" shocks dont. Any ideas how I can make this work? I am thinking I could buy a 1 inch diameter solid steel tube than cut it to length and drill two holes for the bolts would this work?

Stock shock is the black one notice the two bolts:

A standard shock without those two bolts:

That's a bar pin, and it should press/slide out. But what are those shocks to? Are they actually designed to fit your truck?

Oh, wait, you're talking about just the bolts... just put some regular bolts through the holes.

Well the whole bar not just the bolts. Well the shocks pictures are just from the interwebs there not mine just an example. So I can just slide those out they seemed pretty tight?

You can probably buy a bar pin at napa or the dealer maybe? But it should slide out or ypu could press the whole bushing out. Are these shocks the right specs for your truck though?

I went to napa they had nothing. :/ Now that I know the correct name it makes searching easier people have got them out but it can beat up your shock pretty bad. some people say windex works. This wouldnt be a problem but these were from a jeep so if I mess up my stock shock and these dont work im out luck. hmm maybe I will try and make one and see what happens I dont know.

Use a vise and a big socket to push the old bar out of the shock eye...did it on my Ex's cherokee when i built it for her (same style as your shocks).

Good luck, it's fairly easy

Worse comes to worse, bar pin eliminator. Ya that does involve welding the eliminator to the vehicle but you dont have to mess with the bir pins again.

Just a thought.
