ok I've searched and searched and searched some more.. even checked other forums and cant find a dang thing. How are you guys with the plate style front bumpers mounting them? Obviously I'm going to have to cut the factory bumper cross member off but I'm at a stand still. It has to be strong as I built my "buckstop" to do just that. Pics would be much appreciated!

EDIT: I think I can take my factory receiver and turn it upside down and backwards so its on top of the frame and weld it to the bumper/frame. I'd still like pics though!

I think alot of guys are welding square tube in between the frame rails and then building around it, whether theyre welding directly to it or bolting the finished product to it. i believe the frame horns have the crumple zone built in so youre only going to strengthen it so much, but almost anything is stronger than stock.

Personally i would just bolt it up like stock...

I was planning on bolting it either way... there's something I dont like about the idea of my bumpers being welded solid to the frame. Guess i'll drag the old plasma cutter out and cut some plates to weld in behind the bumper and to bolt to the frame. Thanks for the link F.O.R.D. Plus rep to you

Aw, you should have said you were gonna give a rep point! I would have done some searching:D

Haha, Im not one to usually go willy nilly with repping people but every once in a while if someone shares some good useful info I do.

Oh and I did figure out my mounting. I ended up welding a receiver tube into the bottom of the bumper and tied it into the inside of the frame rails with 1.5" square tubing and some 3/16" plate. That will get bolted through the frame and there will be another bracket bolted on the other side to tie in the ends so they have some rigidity.
My 110v Lincoln wire feeder is on its way out so the welds are sloppy but strong as hell.. gess it just gives me an excuse to buy a new welder

I'll get some pics up when The mounting is finished... ran into a snag today with my bolt hole locations so I need to scheme up a different idea. As it sits, the bumper is mounted bot theres only one bolt on either side. Gonna swing by the metal shop in the morning and and pick up some more material and should have pics by the weekend. Bumper looks good on the truck though!

Pic is in. Thought I had one of my rear bumper but nope haha
