i have an extended cab 2001 ford ranger with two 1000 watt amps just laying on the back floor i want to mount them to the back wall tomorrow but do not want to go through the body of the truck i was just going to use short screws and hope that the plastic will hold them in place has anyone had a situation just like this ? any advice or pics ? thanks !

i think some people have glues wood to the back wall and then screwed to that. i dont know if id want to trust plastic to support expensive audio equipment

do you no how i could put pressure on the wood to hold it in place while it is drying ?

got a cargo net across the back wall? (my old ranger did) you could take that off, and use those holes to anchor a sheet of plywood, then mount amps to that.

don't use glue, thats a real cheap way to damage expensive audio equipment. when the glue doesn't stick and your amps fall, a couple holes in some support metal wont seem so bad.

yea i would never put glue on and amp but i was thinking about putting silicone on a piece of plywood then use some screws that are just long enough to go through theply wood and truck plastic/vinyl but not in to the body of the truck and let it setup up for awhile unscrew the screws in the plywood after its done setting up then screwing the amps into the plywood or just leaving the screws in the ply wood for better support what do you think ? oh yea i dont have that net

yeah, i know you meant about gluing the wood, not the amp.

i guess i don't get why you are willing to destroy an interior panel with glue and holes, when you can make a couple small holes in the inner supports of the back wall (behind the carpet and plastic) and make a couple brackets to secure some wood.

mounting to the plastic, if it even held, would rattle like crazy. plus it just looks cheap.

got a pic of your setup as-is? may help the brainstorming. its been awhile since i've had an ex cab ranger (i had a 98 with a homemade box. 1 pioneer 12", 2 kicker 10", all in a forward facing box, divided and sealed, with a plexi top. the inside of the box was painted white, the back sides of the subs were painted with black light reacting paint, and i had 2 black lights in the upper corners of the cab.)

never took a pic because i had no computer or internet to share with. didn't need pics to show my friends, because they could see it in person.

hey that sounds like a neat setup you had i can take a picture tomorrow before i get into taking the wires out of my amps your right i shouldnt ruine the interior of the truck if i dont have to hopefully i can find those inner supports and mount a piece of wood to them ill post pics up in the mourning so you can see this mess i have going on by the way there is 2 alpine type r's back there in a sealed box and i had to take the jump seats out for the box to fit

What amps are they? Those Alpine Type R's need to be ported mang...they will be SO much louder ported.....get a couple pics of your system. If you had to take out the jumpseats for a sealed box to fit the box is probably too big and your gonna blow your speakers.

heres some pics of how i mounted my amps to the back wall, i used pl construction adhesive to hold the board to the wall and then reused the holes in the back wall for the fabric covered panel to anchor 1 of the feet on each outer amp, then i screwed the rest to the wood. theyre very sturdy and i doubt that plywood will every come loose on me.
