Happened earlier this morning on his way to his 9:00 shift at the Ford plant. My wife's sister called us. My brother-in-law who works for Ford up in Ohio had a wreck going to work. He is starting his 30th year with Ford next month. He was on his Suzuki GSR1000 (wearing a helmet) when some young lady pulled out in front of him. She told the cops she did not see him but she saw the car next to him, and still pulled out in front of him. The other car ran off the road and hit a street lamp. My brother-in-law was doing the posted speed limit (50 mph).
He is in the hospital with a fractured pelvis, punctured lung, 3 broken ribs, internal bleeding... bit through his lip..... Dr. says he did well in surgery, that a lot of people with this injury do not even make it to the hospital. He was medevaced him to Cleveland at the accident site. I am going to call later to day and see if I am able to talk to him. What a Friday. He was off today but took another guys shift. The other guy got a cold (ha!! So he said). My brother-in-law is such a cool guy with a huge heart. He would give somebody his last dime or his last scrap of food.

Be safe out there, guys!!! It's a Holiday weekend!!!

I hope he pulls through alright.

Dammmmm, prayers sent for a speedy recovery. Being a firefighter i'm all to aware of what these accidents can be like.

Hope everyone has a safe holliday Weekend..

+1

Not the firefighter part, but I am an avid motorcyclist and this is unfortunately not an uncommon story.

I hope that everyone has a fun, awesome, and overall SAFE holiday weekend, and please... watch for motorcycles.

The best of luck to him and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Shame that your BIL became a 'statistic'......Prayers sent-

Sounds like he will make a slow recovery...hope he does well...prayers for a speedy recovery...

danm, that sucks stray, i hope he gets better, most motorcycle wrecks are caused by careless drivers in cars getting in the path of the motorcycle. motorcycle drivers are usually very careful on the road.

I broke my hip socket when i was 19 and it was a long recovery, hes blessed to be alive,im sure it could have been much worse, sorry for the missfortune.

Back around Thanksgiving last year, a good friend of mine was involved in a similar crash. He was going 25 and a car pulled out in front of him and stopped. He had so little time to react, his rear brake locked and the bike slid into the car. He broke his wrist, ankle and tailbone when he hit the ground and when he hit the car his leg was pinned under the bike so his femur snapped in 4 places, he pierced his kneecap, punctured a lung, ruptured his spleen and got a concussion. Of course the driver was uninsured and had a suspended license.

Make sure he does what the doctor and physical therapist tell him. A little grief now will save a lifetime of pain.

People just don't look for bikes. :dunno:

This is why my wife doesn't want me to get another bike.

Hope he gets well soon.

Thanks, guys. I tried to call him today but he can't talk. His wife is there by the bed until they make her leave tonight. His face and mouth are so swollen. His teeth (upper and lower) went right through his lip and mouth area. Lots of stitches. He can blink his eyes and nod a bit. They will give us updates. He seems stable.

Couldn't pay me enough to ride on the street. I've lost track of how many serious bike wrecks I've heard about in just the last month.

MAN....Stray.!

That SUCKS a bunch......

tell him hello & jesus loves him...for me...

This is the one thing thats keeping me from getting a bike license. I'm not worried about my capabilities on it, I'm worried about OTHER people on the road not paying attention.

All the best to your brother.
