Motorcraft 2v carb question...

After 15 years of cursing my '85 2.8 feedback system, I finally Durasparked it and used a Holley 350. I have never had much luck with carbs so I had a shop tune it in. Seems to be getting 8-10mpg. The 2150 was getting about 18, when it wasn't bucking, farting, and falling on its face with "the flat spot".

Can the 350 be adjusted to get around 18, or should I find another non feedback 2150? It's been about a decade since I was here last crying about my B2, and I seem to recall people saying you can get decent fuel economy from a Durasparked set up. Am I dreaming?

Much love

The holly 350 will not work because of the venturi size there is not enough air flow through the venturi to pull the fuel from the float bowl. You want a 1.08 venturi or smaller and put in #42 jets. What happens is the fuel just drips out of the venturi cluster and puddles in the intake manifold. That raw fuel will wash down into the crankcase and contaminate the engine oil. If you can find a late 70s pinto or mustang II with the 2.8 has the right carb and ignition minus the coil. Just use the stock TFI coil for the best performance. Otherwise there was a guy here who found a 1.02 venturi carb and #42 jets said it dialed right in. If you still have the stock feedback carb just put it on with #42 jets until you can find another carb that will increase performance.

Thank you, kimcrw. I hated that 2150 so much, I threw it in the trash and had a beer to celebrate. Not my smartest move. I'm a passionate man. I did buy a nonfeedback 2150 from National Carburetor. I will examine the specs later tonight. Thanks again.
