I'm wraping up the duraspark conversion on my 84 and have a question about the 2150 choke setup. It has a prong for a wire but the rear of the choke housing has a threaded hole that is empty on my carb. Where does the one wire hook up to? Do I need something hooked up to that hole in the back of the housing? I'm a little unsure of how to hook this up.

The threaded hole pointing down about 45 degrees is for the old choke heater to the exhaust manifold you need to get a fitting to cap it or plug it because it is a vacuum leak. On older engines the tube was pressed into a hole on the exhaust housing and pull the heat thru the choke thermostat to open the choke a 5/16 gas pipe plug will thread in there just put some teflon tape or pipe dope to plug the leak. If the choke thermostat has the spade connection it is more than likely good to use the ignition hot key on to open the choke or you can try using the post on the alternator that has no power when the key is on, once you start the engine it will have around 8 volts so when the engine is running it feeds power to the choke is how the older fords work try that first and see if it opens the choke all the way.

I`m pretty sure it is the stator connector or S terminal if you using the external voltage regulator type alternator you will know with a volt meter no power key on engine not running and around 8 volts engine running.

Thanks for the explaination as it makes sense now how it was setup from the factory. I'll go pick up that pipe plug to prevent the vacuum leak and then wire it up like you said looking for 8 volts when running off the S terminal on my external regulator.

Not on the regulator it is on the alternator it is the wht/blk wire from the alternator and goes to the 8 wire connector by the coil and stops there. At least on mine it did not go all the way to the regulator. Just take that wire and hook it to the choke thermostat and see if it opens the choke. If not try using the hot for the coil if the power from the alternator is not enough to open the choke.
