Motor wont spin after putting it back in.

If it weren't for bad luck........
Didn't see that one coming honestly but that would sure do it.
Its got to get better from here. Question though. Why wait for them to rebuild it instead of buying a new rebuilt converter ?

cause im getting hooked up cause im a local mechanic so all the shops around here give me discounts even tho i dont have a legit "business" or resale number. its gonna be ready in the morning. so Im gonna pick it up on my way to a job interview for nissan and when i get back its going back into the truck and ill have it running by the end of tomorrow hopefully.

the pump is broke .I did this once. the torq con. has to go on the trans first and I forgot the ford but a chevy has to be spun and it drops 3 times into the pump. change the pump before to put it together. I didn't check the pump and had to pull it all apart again.

got everything sorted out just put the new torque converter in. some atf. got everything all bolted up. took it for a spin. it shifts good. runs good. time to bolt up the exhaust so i dont get slapped with a $5000 fine.

Good for you man. :)

Nice. Sounds like you might have dodged a bullet there.

Yeah I think I did Dodge a bullet. Just working some minor bugs out. Its all downhill from here

With all the effort you put into the A4LD, you coulda had an M5OD :icon_thumby: SO long as it's back on the road, you're golden!

Just keep an eye on it. pump problems don"t always show up right away.

yeah true there. been driving with the radio off just listening to it. havent been driving it much just here and there around town. drove it one city over to get a new tire. Im hoping i start working at nissan soon so i can just drop a 302 in and be done with this 2.9 and a4ld. as for the m5od i totally would have had i found one for cheap moneys kinda tight till i start working.

Maybe you got (somewhat) lucky and only the converter was damaged. Gotta admit, I didn't see that one coming, I was expecting the trans to be damaged. At least a converter is much cheaper than a complete trans.....

On the other hand, I bet you never make this mistake again.

I don't think he made a mistake personally. Just one of those freak deals when he reinstalled it. He seated it fine. the TC was just Fubarred form years of use.
Seen it happen before but not like " surprise" like this one was LOL!
Flex plates bend all the time when installing. Especially from the ground. They can normally be bent back fairly easily though if they aren't torqued good or something. I seriously doubt your pump was damaged. I "think" The shaft that drives the pump is the outer shaft the input shaft slides into. So the input shaft getting stuck in the broken converter probably had no effect on the pump. There is plenty of room there to wiggle as is. Just my 2 cents on it :)
Wish you luck with it broseph !
