I have a 1999 4x4 Ranger with a 4.0 L V6. I also have a 2004 4x4 Ranger with a 4.0 L V6 that has a bent frame so I would like to swap my 1999 motor and replace it with the 2004 motor. Is that possible or if it is what kind of problems might I have. I appreciate your time and any information that you can provide.

Thanks,

if they are both the 4.0 sohc engine then i dont see any reason why they wouldnt work together, but if the 1999 is the 4.0 ohv engine then they would have a different wiring harness, look around the engine bay between the two and check if they have the same components

Your long blocks should be the same. You may need to exchange intake, exhaust and accessories to wire it in without major hassles, if the sensors, etc. aren't identical.

Good luck
Rich
