We own an '88 standard cab 5-speed Ranger. After 278,000 miles the original bullet gave up the ghost. Spectacularly. On the freeway.

So we're in the middle of a swap and are having a hell of a time changing the passenger side motor mount. I figured that it was probably a good thing to do given the mileage suffered by the originals.

How do you get a wrench on the nut on the underside of the chassis? The angle is too acute for a wobbly. Is there no other way to get this thing than dropping the I-beam? I'm about ready to drill a hole through the frame rail to stick an extension through.

I appreciate any words of wisdom.

I can't remember the specific configuration I used, but it's possible with out dropping the beam. Remember the brake line being right in the way. The first time I took mounts off a gen-I ~10 years ago, I did drop the beam that time if I remember right.
