So, I needed some river rock for the yard and went down the local nursery to get some. I had to buy half a yard, but I didn't even need that much, so they said to just tell the tractor driver I wanted less than half of the size of the bucket on the tractor (1 bucket = yard), but I had to pay for the full half yard. Fine.

They tractor guy barely slowed down, almost ran me over when we were getting the tarp ready and dumped nearly an entire yard of river rock into the back of my truck! I told him 3 times I only wanted a small half, yet he dumped the full bucket into the back of my truck! When I told him that was way to much, he told me I needed to show him more respect, and tore off in the tractor. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back there.

I have an 02 4 cyl 2wd Ranger, that has a max payload of 1580lbs. There was definitely too much weight in the back of the truck. The leaf springs were bending the wrong way and the mud flaps scraped when I went over bumps. I drove home as slowly and carefully as I could, but wonder if any permanent damage was done.

Should I have a mechanic take a look at the rear suspension and axle? Is there anyway for me to tell if any damage occurred?

i would definately have it throughly looked at, if anything is wrong i would have that dope in the tractor's rear end handed to him on a silver platter for damage as well as the establishment that employs him. with all the warning and guideance that you gave, that is more than enough proof to back your story

nothing broke immeadately, but yeah have it checked.
we have loaded our trucks to that point a very few times and nothing wrong happened. it was a couple emergency situations tho.

looks good lowered!! JK lol hope nothing broke, the worst is youll need new rear shocks

Get the place to pay for all repairs needed and refund you the price of the stone. They disobeyed direct orders of a customer and customers are always right.

Unless there's a broken leaf, you have nothing to worry about.

why didnt you get a shovel and throw some off

id unload all of that asap

I would have left the truck right where it was and immediately get the manager out there. And make THEM shovel 1/2 a yard out of the truck.

Then they'd be pissed off at dufus-boy for giving you more stuff than you paid for and that alone might even be enough to get him fired. AND piss the manager off for having to fix his shit.

yeah that would be the best to do.

hey, you got half a yard of free rock. your story makes me think i should treat my truck a little better than i do though.

It`s a ford it probably sat down on the rubber bumpers and you drove slow you should be ok. I have had mine sitting down on the axel a bunch of times hauling wet compost, rocks and sand I am pretty sure the axel is ok and if the springs didnt make any loud noises have someone follow you on a strait road to see if it catwalks and jump up and down on the bumper to see if the shocks still work. He was being a prick but I am sure there is a waiver holding them exempt from any damages.

I tried to complain at the register, but then the tractor driver came up and proceeded to argue with me and get aggressive. At that point in time I felt it was time to show some discretion and take my leave rather than see things escalate.

I agree, it would have been best to have them help me unload, but I felt the safest way out of the situation was just to leave. The only employees on site were him and the young woman at the register.

Lessons have been learned. In the future, I will not go there. Any other place I go I will stand in front of the tractor, force him to turn it off, and give him specific, detailed directions. After confirming his understanding of said directions, I will then allow him to load my truck.
