Since my shot at getting a complete super coupe fell threw I was curious on other ways of gaining horsepower. Cam, header, injectors? Any suggestions? Truck has a 5 speed transmission. Clutch feel iffy sometimes so I was going to swap that out also. Any suggestions on a place or part number to get any of this? Not saying money isn't a problem but I do get enough overtime I would rather buy the good stuff. Any info would be great!

Well, this is a new one...lol...

Sorry, but this has been discussed many times and although you are fairly new to the site it sounds like you have an idea as to what might give you more from your little big 2.3...all of what you mentioned will help, and it can be done in stages.

Are you planning on building a different engine while you drive the truck as a DD or where you going to make it a project truck?

There are some things you can do right away that might give the impression of more power...like checking the gas pedal for excess play and using zip ties to take out the slack...probably one of the most common things that causes these engines to feel like they are in need of a few more cylinders...

Other than that...you might try searching the site using key words like "dog", "power", "horsepower"...but not necessarily in the same search...lol

I'm certain you will get a few more replies with more specific info, but it really does depend on what your situation is and how you will play this out...

Maybe add a bit more info like how many miles are on the odometer, what gears you have in the rear end (door code might tell you if it's factory) and what size tires you are running...as well as your body weight, how much junk you carry in the truck, and whether it is an extended cab or single...

Consider an electric cooling fan instead of the current belt driven fan, that can free up a few HP and is just a better idea, especially if you ever off-road at lower RPM on warm days :)

Lots of wrecking yard fans and relays will work for the conversion.

Sorry it is a 90 regular cab bagged (so no off roading) no extra weight in truck if anything less than factory weight. Truck will be a DD in about 2 1/2 months. Wife currently not working due to pregnancy! But for the most part I will be Doing upgrades on the weekends. Truck shows 46*** miles (146,000) but was told by previous owner motor was rebuilt. I am new to this site but not new to vehicles so I kinda know a few things. I just didnt know I there were interchangeable factory parts that were better or if I should just buy all after market!

If i were you, i would go to ModdedMustangs.com and go to the 2.3L forum, and search more HP, or engine build. OHC230 is probably the smartest person i know thatt deals with 2.3's (he has a mustang stroked to a 2.7 and supercharged that is pushing 528 HP and 561 Ft-Lbs) You can find a LOAD of advice but anything he says is worth its size in gold.

My suggestion is mill the head down, .100". This will bump up your compression to a little over 10:1 and increase your torque and fuel mileage. It will cost you machine work (it cost me $70), and a new head gasket which is less than $15
