does any one know some ways to get some power from the 2.9? i was planing the 4.0 swap but may just rebuild the 2.9. if i can get a little more juice from her. has any one bored one if so how far can you go over standard bore.thanks in advance

i never bored one but i put a MSD coil, bosh platnum 2 plugs and a 3" streight pipe from the Y back and it had a good bit of power.

The 2.9 is actually a really effecient motor from factory, actually putting out more power for it's displacement than the 5.0, and I beleive the 5.8 lightening also.

If you want more power, get some lower gears in the axles or go 4.0.

I did a mild port job on the intakes and heads on a 2.9 and noticed a little more at 3000 rpm and up, a larger throttle body from the earlier motors could help free up some airflow(depending on your year), along with some headers, but, if your going to do all the work, you may as well do it to a motor with more displacement....Remember, there is no replacement for displacement.

go to the tech library and there is some stuff on the 2.9 all the stuff your lookin for.

go to the tech library and check out 2.9 TIPS KUNZ KORNER it will help you out on that stuff. good luck
