In my 302 swap, I'm using this Dorman slave cylinder. It doesn't want to push the fork out far enough for the clutch to disengage, I only need to move it another 3/8" for a comfortable shift.

Is there a way to put more hydrolic power in to the slave?

Basically, you need a larger bore master.
That is, if your running out of pedal before the clutch completely separates.
Hopefully someone can chime in with a part number or application that'll work for you.

I hope so. I don't even know where to start looking..............

Is that like a stock (F150?) slave? I am using a '75 Toyota Land Cruiser slave for mine. It's got quite a bit more travel than the Ford one, and it's only $25 at O'Reilly. The guy that recommended it to me said you have to play around with where it mounts at to get it to work perfectly.

Does it work good, though? I mean, do you think it has enough oomph to push open a T-5?

Do you think that one from a 4.0/explorer would work? I see they're different part#'s than the 2.3's cylinder.

The Rangers used three different master cylinders.

the '83-92 used the bigger bore.

1993-94 use a smaller bore that mounts to the same bolt holes
via a metal mounting "cup"

1995-on use one that mounts completely different
(directly to the '95-up pedal bracket) and is an even
smaller bore.

what you need is a smaller slave bore that'll yield more
slave travel for the same pedal motion (but higher effort)

I haven't done my swap yet, so I can't say for sure. I would think so, though. The one I saw was used with a NP435 trans...which incidentally is what I am using too. The Land Cruiser slave should travel about 1.5 inches. The bore size on it is 3/4".

Now that I think of it, the clutch pedal is a little too "easy" to move. I mean there's pressure, but it feels effortless. Maybe mine's worn out or I still have air in the line.

So, I was looking at some slaves for a ford probe. 3/4" bore vs the 1" bore I have now.

I know that this will make it more difficult to push the clutch pedal, but is it strong enough to open a T-5 clutch?

I honestly could not tell you. May just have to experiment with different ones.

I'd make sure this was resolved LONG before looking at alternative parts.

Oh, it's been resolved, nice slight pressure to the feel. But it still doesn't move it far enough.
