will i be giving up ride quality going with the reflex series? i can get the reflex shocks and struts a little cheaper. this is going on my daily driver. 100% on road driving. just looking for a replacement that will give me better overall performance. let me know if you have any first hand experience with either. thanks

The Reflex is Monroe's top unit. It's a mono tube style. It will give the best of both. As a given example the Xterra comes factory with a mono tube. I sell 20 to 1 Sensatrac vs Reflex but I find customer's are happier with the Reflex.

Hope this helps.

have you even had any issues that required warranty service? i ask because i can get the relex's cheaper is because full manufacturers warranty, only a 30day.

Never had any comebacks.... Just where are you getting them that comes with less than a year warranty?

Just checked.... All Monroe shocks cept air adjustable come with a limited lifetime. Basically means if ya wreck it, burn it, the world ends etc etc it won't be warrantied. It will if it wears out.

I've used Monroe and they are the best for a stock shock. Ya want the killer deal of the year????

im looking at them at rockauto.com. they have a 'wholesale closeout' on the reflex models for my truck. it says they only come with a 30 day warranty. if i buy them at full price id get hte limited lifetime warranty.

got any deals?

Well, if ya want a killer shock that normally is $100 each go to www.edelbrock.com and click on their online store. Their IAS shocks are on closeout. I got all 4 for $31.99 each WITH free shipping! Now I don't care if they have a lifetime, 90 day or 90 feet warranty. If I can get hi performance shocks CHEAPER than Monroe Sensatrac or Relex I'll take it!!!!

they dont have the shocks for up front for my truck. only the rears.

+1 to this...I'm an ex-suspension mechanic. The only shocks we recommended daily was the Sensatrac line. they are a fantastic shock at a reasonable price. Having said that I jsut ordered a set of the Edelbrock shocks yesterday for my truck. (too cheap to pass up).

I have the Reflex shocks all around on my '92. Love 'em. Give my short bed 2wd a decent ride, but are tough as nails. A+ in my book. Decent price too.

Sensa-Tracs in my 2008, 2wd XLT extended cab

I took the time to read all the stuff about performance shocks, etc., but all I really wanted was a better ride. I put Sensa-Tracs in and they give me just that - at a fraction (like 1/2) of what the others sell for. I did notice that the rear doesn't "tramp" heavily going over railroad tracks like it used to with the stock Motorcraft HD shocks. I was "shocked" ( get it?) that Sensa-Tracs with the Safe-tech System really do keep the tires on the ground a lot better.

Just my 2 cents

This discussion comes up on the Sport Trac boards a lot because the stock shocks on '01-'05's are way too soft. Basically get Sensa Tracs if you're mostly on-road, Reflex if you off-road or tow a trailer. I put Sensa Tracs on my old Sport Trac and liked them a lot.

iv never ran the reflex but im very happy with the sensitrac, been runnin em for about 45,000 miles and they arent showing any signs of gettin blown out and mushy

SensaTrac vs. Bilstein

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:A weird thing happened! I was able to sell my Sensa Tracs for more than I paid for them, after I had them in for a very short time. I then bought Bilsteins on a whim (and at a very good price). No doubt about it, if you want the smoothest ride out there, Bilsteins are the best - I would not say that they are twice as good as what the Monroe Sensa Tracs are, however. The best price I found was at Shoxshop.com - all four shocks for $269 including shipping. That's like $67.25 apiece for Bilsteins that are warranteed for the life of your Ranger! You gotta like yellow shocks with light blue plastic shrouds, though!
