Model kit builders?

The kit didn't come with a campfire. Send it back!

So, how long before you son gets to play with it?

Like 10 years lol. Not really a kid friendly set. He wants it bad tho...

I know on the fire, I was just at Lego store yesterday too. Been working on the lantern for awhile, the clear globe was hard to find. I just threw the stove together quick last night from spare parts I had.

I was hoping to find someone with a 3d printer to make me a set of floats and the rigging for a super cub in 1/32 scale.

Shapeways.com is a sort of marketplace for 3d printed goods.. lots of cool rc related stuff. Perhaps someone there has something

in the model train area of most hobby shops (if it's a good one with a train section) they should have plastic sheets, most floats are fairly simple and flat, get yourself some Plastruct cement (it's basically MEK and other bad stuff but in a brush in cap jar, disolves ABS and makes it melt to itself) and a sheet or whatever of the ABS they use for building stuff for trains, should be able to bend with a heat gun... 3d printing would be easier but there's other options...

Just a few I've finished this summer...

Newly retooled AMT 1960 F100

The good ole AMT 1960 Ranchero

Moebius 1965 F100 converted to an 250 4x4, sitting on the Moebius 1972 F250 chassis and with an AMT 1960 bed.

AMT Ford tilt cab, backdated from a 1971-ish C600 to a 1959 C1000. Obviously a sister to the '65 250.

And another tilt cab Ford.

To anyone interested, I've got a whole bunch more here...

Nice work!

Since I'm here at the Ranger Station, I can't believe I forgot to show a Ranger. Here's the AMT '95, bagged and body dropped, with a 1996 Explorer Limited front swap. If you notice the mismatch between the cab and bed, it's because they were painted about five years apart, after my original Flareside bed idea did not pan out.

I just recently got the "new/old" AMT '63 Ford F100 kit, so I've been farting around with that this evening.

I have built a number of 1/16th trucks. The orange Peterbilt was a semi tractor kit that I left off the sleeper and made the flatbed for it. The light blue Kenworth is the most recent one. Most of the JD tractors are limited edition Ertl units.

Damm. Can I nominate this for Truck of The Month? LOL

I love this F100:

I like how realistic your models look. How long did it take you to build that?

Well...
I built the chassis a couple months after the '72 F250 4x4 came out, then spent about a year waiting for the AMT '60 to come out so I could steal the bed. But once I had the parts I knocked it out over a weekend.

Awesome.

This weekend's projects...

Model kit builders?

'63 Ford F250 4x4. Moebius '72 chassis, Moebius '65 cab with the AMT '63 grille and the panel over it reworked to suit, and an AMT '60 Styleside bed.

I started this '53 F100 years ago, didn't touch it in ages, and got it this far as of tonight. AMT kit with an AMT Nascar Thunderbird front suspension (resembles an aftermarket Mustang II setup if you squint) and 9" rear axle and Pegasus wheels and tires. Not sure what engine I'll use, maybe a 4.6. Gonna need an interior first.

I too was pretty hot and heavy into plastic truck models a few years ago but kinda gave up for a couple reasons - lack of choices, eyesight going, and busy supporting our kids' activities.
Now that the kids are at college I'll probably get back into it.
Thought I'd share a few. Early Bronco scratch built and Cooper's Lumber Co F100
