I was wondering if any one on here ever mess with model cars my son was given one for christmas. I rember when i was younger I used to put them together myself I have seen some people put them together and trick them out pretty good. Just wondering if any one on here still mess with models

I built models as a kid and still do today. I usually don't buy new kits, I get old junk and make stock cars or something like that out of them.

I used to, don't really have anywhere to work on them now. Still have some nice ones. I mostly built planes though. Have a real nice 67 Chevelle.

Wish someone would make a Ranger or other RBV.

Scored this one at a yard sale this summer,The same fellow has a ton of models every year.

I probably put 6 or 7 a year together as a kid.the last one was a couple of years ago...3000 Gt VR4.Made me a nervous wreck...lol.

Can you post some pic of some you have customized in the past to show my son

Last year in my auto mechanics class (high school) we were required to assemble a model car for a school project. Naturally, I built a Ford Ranger, and painted it "Redfire Metallic" - same as my truck. Maybe I'll post some pics of it later

well there is the reason you got so nervous. if that was a skill level 2 or 3...all those tiny crammed in parts under the hood. that would whack me out too!

yep i build em every now and then. last 1 was a red 69 fastback mustang

Where did you find a Ranger?!

look for them on ebay, they made them for a little bit, usually as a coke truck...

I still have a BUNCH that I collected several years ago, I've only done a few since I could really put some detail to them though... now that I have an explorer I should really put together one of the two explorer models I have...

Thats no joke my friend:icon_cheers:!
At the time we had a 3000 (wasnt VR4 ) and I couldnt believe I found the same year in a model, painted it the same color as the real car.

I keep looking in the Tiger Tank box and freaking out............lol.
It has a electric motor and runs on batteries.

I built tons of models when I was younger and a few since then. I did mostly tanks and planes....I almost always screwed up the paint on cars. The last few I did I used hemostats and tweezers for the small parts,I have really big hands. I wish I had the ones I did when I was a kid but they fell victim to BB guns, the .22 and M-80's ect.

Funny thing running across this thread. I got one for Christmas, 68 Ford Mustang Shelby Fastback . My Son got it for me. He said "Now you got something to work on when its cold and rainny." I gripe like an old woman when I can't get out and work on my truck, or other projects. I am 62 years old and will have some fun with that model.
