model cars

I used to be into that, and would still like to work on them, but just never seem to have the time, always working on the big ones in the driveway or on the house or busy working, etc. I have two models still that are pretty complete, I'll have to see about taking a few pics. F-14 Tomcat that I never finished the cockpit yet and what's supposed to be a German mobile anti-tank gun on a tank chassis, for some reason I'm drawing a blank on what it's actual name is at the moment, but pictures of the real one I found online don't resemble the model (to my disgust), but I still did the model. I was starting to work on doing some weathering/wear and stuff to make it look real, but never got that done yet either.

Well..........

I built them as a kid til I was old enough to work on the real thing (10y/o), then while I was stationed in ND, I would build em durin the winter since I didn't have a garage most of the time, then work on my cars in the summer, and now, if I see a model I like, I buy it & add it to my collection (58 unbuilt) for when the time comes I can't work on the real ones anymore, I'll build the replicas.:icon_idea: When I do build em, it usually takes me 2-3 kits to build one, can't build em stock out of the box!:icon_twisted::icon_welder:

Sorry for the poor cell pics, but Wife has digital with her in PA visitin her Dad:

Some are now collectors items, like the "Days of Thunder" trio, Tim Richmond's Folgers Monte Carlo SS, and Lake Speed's K-Mart Olds Cutlass in the first pic.........

I just got done with the Bronco. Its an AX-10. Locking diffs, working winch, and a couple of LED lights. I built the interior from scratch though

I was doubtful I would ever find a Ranger but I searched and searched and found one on ebay for $15.00 or something like that. Here's some pictures. Holy crap I didn't realize the camera made it look so bad! It looks good in person but the camera picks up all of the "imperfections." There are a lot :bawling:

Here are some of the stuff that I have, built or am working on. This first picture is of cardboard cars that my dad built 60+ years ago. They would build/repair the cars during the week and then have a demo derby on the weekend. These cars were built after real stock cars that raced in Waterloo, IA.

This is a 40 Hudson stock car that I am building and it is out of cardboard.

Here are some that I started 20 or so years ago and then they got packed in boxes. Now that I have a place to work on them, I hope to make some progress.

I built the General when I was in high school and beat the adults in a model contest which I thought was pretty cool. Unfortunately, she took quite a beating moving from WI to KS to TX.

And I am building Noah's Ark for my wife's birthday which was this last July. About a week before her birthday, I got lymes disease which kicked my butt and have not finished it yet.

i havent built a model in a few years but when i was big into them i liked to customize them as i put them together. the best one i build was a 50's ford truck. i notched the frame, slammed it so the running boards sat right on the ground. tinted the windows, painted dash, body was flat black... it looked sweet. i had other ones too that were intentionally half put together parked around it in a glass case. looked awesome, like a custom shop. i loved it! i think thats why my ex smashed them all...lol

AMT also did promo models of the 93+up Ranger STX 4x4s. They looked pretty nice.

That's supposed to be a German Marauder III, but the pictures of actual ones don't match up. I was a little disappointed with that.
