Ill be leaving Sat to begin the trek to Camp Lejune NC was wondering if theres anythign i should make a attempt to see on the way.

well, if you're coming to camp Lejune, I'm 20 minutes down the road, and could show you around a few trails and such if you have time to do so!

If you get up this way (just below Va Beach), gimme a holler.
My son is a Cpl in Yuma. I was stationed at New River 79-84.

My only suggestion is maybe hit a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway for a slow scenic drive. Pick a short section though, 35 mph gets old fast and they give tickets (they can see you from miles away, tricky bastages).

Enjoy some beach down Surf City/Topsail Island, all the hotties are in Wilmington (college) and don't drink and drive. You can drive on some of the beaches on the Outer Banks, two up my way, dunno about down that way. Get a cast net and catch shrimp, or a small boat and gig flounder at night. Some of the best spots for that are on LeJeune (turn left after the Main gate). It's swampy though, you ain't walkin'. Good times.

Hand salute, Oorah and Semper Fi.

And now for some Pictures...

We stopped in Kentucky and saw Mammoth cave and WOW!! Biggest cave I've ever toured If your going by I recommend it lots of history in there too.

wilmingtons a bit of a drive from camp lejune and topsail is closer than wrightsville you can drive on the beach at carolina and kure but its expensive if your not going to be on the beach all day. are you being stationed there?

Im sure I was Close at least we went through the nantahala forest as well for awhile but i cant remember the road number and it was dark. I want to say it was 74 but not positive then we took 40 to hickory NC. Did you see me I was towing a 6x12 uhaul trailer?

the pic with the crazy lady pumpin gas look at the sign way in the back to the right. i think u might have been in murphy some place i cant tell where that is tho.

O yea that was murphy I remember now. Yea that lady was crazy I was pumping gas and my wife just started laughing I was like what and all she could do was point so I had to get a picture. That was at the First gas station coming in from the east at a three way intersection Station was red don't remember the name tho.

damn, that was a haul.

well, as you may know, jacksonville isnt anything to write home about. my grandpa used to work on base down there for a long time. they live down near beulaville which is a half hour from there. i know it isnt for most people, but i love it down there, big open fields and lots of woods.

i'd suggest you go down to wilmington when you get the chance, real nice place especially downtown at the waterfront. my dad grew up there and when my grandparents were still alive we went down there all the time.

almost anywhere will have some decent bbq, i'd hit that up as well.

going from MN to NC you're gonna hate the summertime. i hate it and i've lived here my whole life. it gets so hot you can hardly breathe.

that pier you were under, bogue inlet?! sure did look like it, and if so, I drive on that beach all the time!

all i'm gonna say is baby powder, lol
:bawling:NO NOT BABY POWDER!!!...I wanted to forget Okinawa.
