Mitsubishi FM145 filler plug

My book says the the filler plug is supposed to have a square hole for a 3/8 ratchet. The plug does not look like the square hole plugs on the rest of the truck. It looks like a plug with a shoulder and a hex head. I am afraid to remove the plug. The hex head looks buggered and it is tight as hell. Is my book wrong or do I need to think about pulling it and fixing the threads.

I don't think the filler plug is a square drive on that trans.

If the filler looks like it might not come out nicely you can pull the shifter and fill it through there.
