Missing Vacuum Line ?????

On my 91 3.0 there is suppose to be a vacuum line that connects on the firewall above the heater box. It has an electrical connector that plugs in to the left of it. Been working out the kinks in this truck since I bought it last week and figure this is probably something needed. Looks like it has a slide lock connector too. Anybody have pics of this line I could see so I can get the correct one to fit? Also, can anybody tell me where the other end of it goes, as I can't find a good vacuum line diagram anywhere to tell where it runs to? Thanks in advance.

IF you have AC on your truck, there should be a vacuum valve (single valve, four hose) that both the heater hoses run to. IF this is the port I think it is, it is a control to shutoff the coolant so the AC can work less. If you do not have AC, the port through the firewall is probably plugged, and the valve isn't in the system.

Check the port that goes through the firewall (pull it out, blow through it). If it is plugged, don't worry about it. If it is open, plug it or use .25inch vacuum hose to connect it to the vacuum valve in the heater hoses.

It does have A/C. Will look for this valve, although I don't think it is the one I am talking about. The one I see missing is literally connected to an electrical control box that is bolted to the top of the firewall right above the heater box under the hood.

So I checked out the heater hoses. It doesn't have any valves connected to them that require a vacuum line. The only thing on them is a "T" with a bleeder cap on it.

No one here have a Ranger round my year to tell me where this vacuum line goes and got a pick of it so I know what I'm lookin for?

wish i could help you Creep, butmy 99 doesnt have what you describe, or atleast not on the top of the firewall. i do have a few on the passenger side that seems to go from the heater valve across to the plenum with the coil pack vaccums. just had it apart today, will go look closely tomorrow.

Here's a pic of where one end of the vacuum line goes. It plugs into the white piece to the right of the electrical connector on the firewall. Anybody even know what that piece is and what it does too?

That's your MAP sensor. There should be a spot on the passenger side intake manifold for a vaccum line to connect to it.

Well that's progress, knowing what it is. Got any pics of where it should connect there? Pass side pretty cluttered. I don't see anywhere for it to connect. But it doesn't connect to the vacuum tree though right? How would missing this vacuum line effect the idle/running of the truck?

Well, got the MAP sensor connected. It is running better. Still never found a connection point on the passenger side intake. 3.0 engine's don't have a second tree on that side like the 2.9's. I ended up connecting it to one of two ports that were capped off on the main vacuum tree on the rear driver side of the intake. It is idling better now.
