Misses then runs fine

94's do not have a cam position sensor that is why I told him it did not. They started when the OBD2 era went into effect.

EDIS module would have been my guess, but dont replace the computer without troubleshooting first. They are pretty pricey even used. If it is the computer usually it will throw crazy codes or a pcm failure fault code.

Considering what he is working with and the DX technique he has chosen to employ I see no other avenue but "the throwing parts at it" method?.....eventually that method does work!!!!

I got the module for $10. The computer is $25. I don't mind throwing parts at it for those prices. If they don't work then I can easily get my money back out of it or save it for a spare. i'm going to take it to a shop next week to get the codes read if this don't work.

Unsubscribing!!!.....don't get offended. I am a little quirky and can only participate in things are being done a certain way......peace!

Finally got it to read some codes and it turns out the MAF sensor was not reading right. Replaced that and it helped tremendously but it was still bogging down intermittently. I had brand new bwd spark plug wires and motorcraft plugs and it was arcing out of the boots. I got it warranted and now there is no arcing but it didn't help the random bog issue. I cleaned the air temperature sensor and it helped a lot so I got a new one and that did the trick!

checking for codes on an obd-I is pointless........where did you learn that..... a Ford Dealership :icon_rofl:...........since it is pointless I guess you are not going to bother...but I think the reader is only $20 and the manual method is FREE........but if it is pointless...

Pulling codes on a OBD I is not pointless, it still stores codes and will give you vital clues whats going on.
I do believe 93 and new OBD I ECU's were what thy called smart ECU's

Well I guess I spoke too soon. It ran perfect for 2 days then it started doing the exact same thing. Hooked it back up to a computer and its not giving me any codes anymore. Could a loose ground be causing it it bog down randomly? If so, What are some sensors I should check and what is the best method?

93 and 94 4.0 computers have the smart EECs that will output live data as well as the 3 digit codes the earlier years of the 4.0 will. On these, pulling codes is not a waste of time and it will save you money.
