Hi everyone. The stuff I found on this site the first time was so impressive I had to join. You see I got a couple of ex park's dept rangers. One is a 93 and one is a 94. Both are identical 4.0 auto(a4ld) 4x4 except the 94 has manual locking hubs and the 93 has the pushbutton. I thought they were in pretty good shape. Little leaks and what not. The best part about them is the two 6'6" Boss V-blades. I plow alot of condo areas and small parking lots so you can see the value. Plus the price was extremely right. So now its time to clean them up. The 94 cleans up fine. Replace a brake line here tighten a trans line there. Boom all good. The 93 is whole different story and is the reason I have turned to the forum.

The 93 isn't sitting right. I see that I need 3 leaf spring brackets and shackles. Since I see the rr is brand new. TRS archive show how to replace and while I was at it put in explorer leafs since I carry about 500 lbs of sand and salt for traction. All good here. next

On the road test the 93 won't shift out of first. TRS informs me to check vacuum modulator. one hour of my time and $27 done.

The bench seat on the 93 is shot. This is where it gets interesting. The bolts come out of the floor no problem. I take out the seat see that its got old pillows stuffed in it for support. I decide to consult the TRS archive once more and I find a variety of available and easy to do seat and console swaps. Hooray, i can have nice cupholders. So I start cleanup. I pulled the rubber floor and its was all full of mud on the drivers side. When I started to clean it I realized the drivers side floor pan was swiss cheese. I can also see the body mount bushing 3/4 around. Now what do I do. This truck only has one real purpose. To plow plow plow.

Does anyone know what I can do to repair this?
I know this probably isn't the first one this happened to. Most of the floor pan is rotted almost to the rocker and as far up as the heel mark by the pedals.

I'm sorry for the lame intro. I just need this fixed. I know I probably should have waited for the full story but if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be thankful

You could see about getting a 'new' cab from the junkyard. Otherwise its just replacing all the rusted out floor pans.

Rust up here is a real bitch, hard to totally get rid of. I'm glad you used the search and was able to fix a lot of your problems. Sent you a PM also.
Dave

Thanks guys. I've looked at a cab yesterday at the local yard. Wow the prices up here and he couldn't even help me out with a salvage title. I need plates to drive it and I don't want to be dirty and switch the vin. My main concern is structual integrity. This thing will be slammin into snowbanks hopefully soon. I will update with some pics of the affected area when i get a chance. Will I need to replace the cab mounts? I'll probably sell this one after winter. I want a year round truck that I can camp and play in. Yes it will be a ranger or b3000

If your cab is that far gone it's possible your cab mounts are trashed too. It's probably not a bad idea to replace them anyway...make sure everything's nice and solid.

I looked trough the lmc online catalog but could only find floor pans for years up to 92. I ordered the catalog for Rangers. Hoping I will see something different when the catalog shows up. How different is the floor pan on a 92. I know the interior looks the same on my 93 as a 92. But can't find a 92 in the local yard to measure and campare floor pan profile. I would rather put a pan that that looks OE. But sometimes I think maybe I should go with something more heavy duty. Up here we usually drive them til they rust away then junk them. That's not an option on this truck. This is the money truck. It just seems to be taking money right now but once it snows it will be making money.

Just buy some steel and make your own floor pans, You can make them as thick as you want! it wont matter if it looks oem Its under the rubber or carpet.

Yeah . I think i'm going to fab some floors up instead. That way theres no second guessing the strength. Plus Its a plow/work truck. I'll care a little more on my next truck. The only reason I care so much is I can't find a shop that would switch the plow to another truck. It's a rare 6'6'' boss v plow that is all hydraulic over electric that even my local boss shop will only work on it. They said if it was off the truck they wouldn't touch it. So I wil have to keep this truck as solid as i can til the body falls off or the frame snaps in half. Time to start measuring and cutting. Thanks to all for all advice

Haven't really had time the past couple days. I did find time however to take some pics the rust and over all pics of the truck. Let me know what you guys think.

Well the only answers I have for the floor pans has already been said, pick up some sheet and weld new stuff in.

That plow however, I would love to have one.

Awesome plow! If you want to go on the cheap, you can thin down Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and slather on a few coats of that. Then slather it on unthinned, takes time to dry, a couple days. If you can't weld,
I have glued floor patches in with Liquid Nails. A few pop rivets to keep the patch in place is good. Let it cure and try to seal it all off with Rusty Metal Primer. Don't know what to say about the cab mounts.

Hey guys sorry haven't updated in a while. Real llife got in the way. ANy way I am getting back on track this week. Just picked this up off the craigslist for parts and got a couple questions.

Its a 2wd drive 4cyl found behind a hanger at the airport. Delta airlines parts runner truck that had a timing belt snap and now has a rod knock. Seems to run fine besides the knock. I'm going to cut up this truck for parts on the plow. I was wondering how hard is it to put the auto 4x4 electronics in the 2wd cab or should I just cut what I need off the 2wd and weld it in my 4wd. If you look at the pics of the 4x4 you can see my rust problem. Need to start soon to be ready for plow season

Started stripping the parts truck thursday night. Got the itch for the junkyard friday morning and found a 98 explorer that just got there. So I got both front seats, center console. So i couldn't help it this morning, I had to mock it all up so I can invision how more comfortable I'm going to be this winter. Took some pics for all you guys since this site has done most of my thinking for me.

Got out all the glass and stripped the interior on the parts truck. Going to start cutting up the cab floor and left rocker tonight. Then I have to take back out my new interior to fix my rust problem.

AHHH it'll be a fun night. Its supposed to be frosty but I got a torch to keep me warm
