Mike's '93 4x4

On coffee break this morning I put on a new IAT sensor and cleaned the TB again. I noticed my IAT sensor had a decent amount of oil on it so I disconnected my PCV. Running a random hose off the PCV and plugged the line on the intake. On the drive here for lunch it seemed to perhaps be a little bit better, we shall see.

Put in a new vacuum modulator yesterday after work, no more slam into reverse!

Organizing the pics now.

Well crew, here are all the pics from Thursday night.

Since the shop is pretty full, and it was raining off-and-on, I had to improvise a bit to get my truck into the dry.

I stripped all the parts I needed of my Explorer before handing it along to the next guy. I need to talk to him on Monday and give him back his PCM, and see if I can nab the throttle body.

Explorer's intake.

Haggard top half of the Ranger intake.

And the smashed up airbox, sure that wasn't helping anything. Filter was nasty.

So I had an issue. My Ranger's air horn was in way better shape than the Explorer's. Except that the main intake scoop on my Ranger was held together with No-More-Nails. So a little improvisation and they were melded into the best of both.

Camo duct tape over the zip-tie:D

Explorer air box dropped into place.

Of course the Explorer's intake wasn't perfect, so I had to improvise a clamp up:icon_rofl:
IMG_0919.jpg

Since I think I may have a vacuum issue, I put a vacuum gauge in my truck. In a super high performance custom mount:icon_twisted:

New ECT sensor, the new IAT sensor wasn't in at this point.

My ugly mug, fiddling around with the computers. When my truck thought it was an Explorer the check engine light came on. I asked Jay the next day and it was the Explorer's codes in my truck. Since it made no difference I converted my truck back to Ranger.

All your PCMs are belong to us.

Thinking I may have an internal vacuum leak between the upper and lower intakes causing some issues. The gaskets are cheap and easy enough to change so I think I might do them.

And that's it... for now:D

So the experiment list goes on. I had an oxygen sensor code a while ago so I decided since we had 2 kicking around I would put them in my truck. They haven't made any sort of difference in performance but we'll see if my mileage improves any. It only took about 5 minutes to change them in the parking lot at work. Just went out there with a 22mm wrench, turned them an 1/8th of a turn and spun them the rest of the way out by hand. Never had o2 sensors come out that nicely.

Ordered up a TB gasket, should be getting the of TB this week so I will be giving that a shot right quick. Also may try an upper intake gasket too while I'm at it.

Still waiting for my TB gasket to show up, when it does I'm going to put on the new TB and an upper intake gasket for the heck of it.

TB gasket arrived but little delay on the throttle body itself.

Cruise night was on tonight so I brought down the Ranger. Went out afterwards and maybe-sorta-kinda did some mall crawling.

I really like that last one:D

So... it's been a while...

Today's teaser is MOTORVATION. That is all.

you need more flex....

No pics, didn't get to mess with the electrical because it was raining all evening.

But...

The rain brings with it mud. And mud brings with it hooning. And hooning brings with it video. Me and Ben (thatbluecar) went out and enjoyed our lovely Yukon weather this evening... 1:10 is the best part of the first video, and it allows you all to finally hear my exhaust:D

:headbang:

PS: This area we're at is the local snow dump/motocross track/mud bog pits/ex-gokart track. All this hooning is no problem here.

John hit the nail on the head.

From hoonigan.com a "Hoon' is "Any person that drives in dangerous and/or fast manner which is anti-social towards the standards of modern day society."

:D

Glad to be back crew. No back to it! :icon_welder:
